You probably didn’t know you could annoy goblins with this object in Baldur’s Gate 3, though it takes a bit of musical talent

Even though Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out for two years (and even longer since Act 1 was in early access), it continues to surprise players with hidden tricks they stumble upon. Things like discovering a secret powerful weapon, removing a tadpole from a companion without consequences, or making the fight against Auntie Ethel less challenging are just a few examples. Some players don’t even find well-known features until 70 hours into the game! Baldur’s Gate 3 is so intricately detailed that it’s easy to miss some aspects or overlook minor things entirely. For instance, one lesser-known feature is the ability to annoy goblins, turning their war drums into a strategic advantage rather than summoning reinforcements.

When a True Soul finds a beat

In Act 1 of the game BG3, the main storyline involves a struggle between druids and goblins. With numerous choices at your disposal, you’re given the freedom to delve into both territories extensively. Given that almost every item in the game is interactive, music enthusiasts might be drawn to experiment with the war drums stationed near the Goblin Camp. This very thing was recently demonstrated on TikTok by a user.

It’s clear that war drums are used to rally troops during conflict, so they should be treated with seriousness. However, as a “True Soul,” you don’t necessarily have to adhere to the norms. Interestingly, anyone with the Performance skill can play a simple tune on them. Initially, you might only get a warning, but persist and the surrounding guards will grow increasingly irritated. Eventually, you’ll provoke an amusing reaction from a very annoyed goblin. If fighting erupts in that area later, those same goblins won’t react to the drums anymore; they’ll simply think you’re fooling around again.

Unfortunately, only these drums in the encampment are functional. However, should you choose to align with the druids, it would be wise to destroy any drums you find within the fortress. They can become quite troublesome during a genuine battle.

It might be well-known among some gamers, but Baldur’s Gate 3 is brimming with subtle details that could go unnoticed. For example, pairing a specific Mace with a curse results in an incredibly potent weapon. Similarly, one might overlook a highly powerful Quarterstaff hidden early in the game.
