You Missed This Shocking Death in Black Mirror’s USS Callister Sequel

In the return of Black Mirror, USS Callister: Into Infinity brings back Nanette, portrayed by Cristin Milioti, along with her astronaut comrades. However, unlike the others, one team member is not simply absent – they’re deceased.

At the finale of USS Callister, Nanette along with the team successfully broke free from Daly’s (Jesse Plemons) personal server, leaving him stranded in a dark, endless digital universe as his actual body remained lifeless and facing death within his apartment.

In a surprising turn of events, reminiscent of a fairy tale, the Black Mirror crew successfully reappeared unscathed in their primary Infinity server. This group encompassed Walton (played by Jimmi Simpson), Karl (Billy Magnussen), Elena (Milanka Brooks), Nate (Osy Ikhile), Kabir (Paul G. Raymond), and Shania (Michaela Cole).

When we reunite with them in Season 7, everyone seems to be doing okay – but one person is missing.

Why Michaela Cole didn’t return for Black Mirror’s USS Callister sequel

As a devoted fan, I was eagerly anticipating seeing Shania in “USS Callister: Into Infinity,” but to my disappointment, Cole’s Shania wasn’t there. A brief moment later, we learn that her character tragically perished off-screen.

To EW, Charlie Brooker, the show’s creator, clarified that her location is revealed, however, tragically, she passed away during a mission. The incident was fairly swift.

[One character] remarks, ‘Two weeks ago, Shania was brutally torn apart in my presence, and the scent of her blood still lingers.’

At approximately the 7:50 point, when Nate questions Nanette about her survival strategies for the crew, she exclaims, ‘Four weeks ago, I witnessed Shania being destroyed right before my eyes!’

As for me, I can still catch a whiff of her scent, Nanette mentions, and Nate replies, “Her absence affected us deeply, you understand?

Sadly, there was a practical reason she was killed off: Cole was busy working on another project.

Brooker pointed out that coordinating everybody’s schedules is quite a challenging task,” or simply, “Brooker mentioned that it’s quite difficult to find a time that works for everyone.

It was difficult to find a time that worked for everyone’s schedules. I have admired her for a long time and consider her fantastic. Previously, we’ve featured her in two episodes, so asking her for another appearance might seem excessive.

That doesn’t mean she won’t make a comeback from that direction. In other words, anything could happen now, according to Brooker.

Additional information is available for the remaining episodes of Black Mirror Season 7, including ‘Common People’, ‘Bête Noire’, ‘Hotel Reverie’, ‘Plaything’, and ‘Eulogy’.
