As I delve into the enigmatic region known as the Horns of the South within Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, I come across a puzzling sickness that seems to be spreading from one refugee in the village to certain Keepers within the fortress. To unravel this mystery, I must venture into a perilous dimension and confront Abhartach, the Fore-Dweller.

In the game ‘I See Darkness’, players will encounter Abhartach who will ask them to perform an unusual action. The choice is up to the player whether they want to assist Abhartach or not, by complying with his request of allowing themselves to be bitten. Given that this seemingly strange request could pose a challenge, we’ve put together a guide for players considering their options in the ‘I See Darkness’ quest:

1. If you decide to help Abhartach, follow his instructions carefully and see where it leads you.
2. Alternatively, if you choose not to assist him, you can decline his request and proceed with caution.

Keep in mind that your decision could have consequences throughout the game, so choose wisely!

This manual could reveal plot details for the mission titled ‘I See Darkness’ within the game ‘Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon’. Proceed with caution as you may unintentionally stumble upon spoilers.

How To Start I See Darkness In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

As players traverse the Village in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, they’ll encounter a man imprisoned in a cage and a woman nearby. By conversing with Betrys, they’ll discover that an unusual sickness has been infecting some Refugees and spreading to the Keepers. If they vow to uncover the source of this mysterious illness, the quest titled I See Darkness will be initiated. Players will then be tasked with tracing the origin of the disease and determining if there’s a chance to rescue the afflicted Keeper and villager.

Betrys guides the players towards a campsite close to the King’s Road, which can be located by tracking the quest symbol and moving north of the fortress. Upon arrival at the camp, you may encounter a Corpse Eater prowling nearby; dispose of it, then move towards the sleeping mat indicated by the quest marker. It is here that you will rest to enter the dream realm. This is where players will first meet the enigmatic figure known as Abhartach.

As they traverse this enigmatic realm along its winding path, they’ll encounter a denizen of the ancient land called Abhartach, shackled at the base of a gloomy abyss. He beckons them near and whispers that he requires merely ‘one taste’. If inquired, he guarantees the restoration of those affected to their original state. Now, faced with a crucial decision, they must decide whether to trust him or not.

Should Players Let Abhartach Bite Them Or Not?

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share this thrilling twist: Should players choose to let Abhartach feed on their blood, they’ll sustain a bit of harm. Here’s the kicker: Arthur’s tainted blood that courses through the protagonist will instantly poison Abhartach, leading to its inevitable demise.

In case the players decline, Abhartach may grow furious and attempt to eliminate them. The boss confrontation ensues, however, the depleted Primordial Being can only launch a single attack before collapsing from fatigue.

In the first scenario, the interaction concludes without requiring a boss battle, allowing the players to search and claim Abhartach’s corpse and acquire the Fore-Dweller’s Bauble (a powerful focus) as their own keep-sake. Regardless of whether they accept or reject Abhartach and ultimately slay him, the rewards and experience remain consistent.

As a gamer, I find myself standing at a crossroads in this game. I can either opt to bypass the boss battle or brave it out and engage him in combat. Upon my return to the village, Betrys shares some news about Mahon, who’s miraculously recovered from the illness. Unfortunately, Col, her dear one, hasn’t fared as well. He remains stricken with the affliction, slipping further into a catatonic state.

Here’s another decision that players encounter. If their character has a more developed Spiritual attribute, they can attempt to persuade Betrys to allow them to alleviate Col’s distress. This action grants additional gold and experience points, concluding the I See Darkness Quest successfully.

If players can’t convince Betrys, their quest will halt at that point, preventing them from accessing further objectives. However, if they succeed in convincing her, Betrys may task them with eliminating Col during the night. This action would help them avoid a bounty and ensure the successful completion of their mission.
