Fila and Radio Eva are teaming up once more, launching a fresh sneaker collaboration following their joint release in 2021 that left fans eager for more. The Italian sportswear company has rekindled its partnership with Radio Eva to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, and they are fully committed to creating innovative footwear inspired by the legendary Eva models this time around.

Previously, FILA unveiled an extensive collection of approximately 30 items inspired by the anime “Evangelion”, ranging from hoodies to shoulder bags. But now, mecha enthusiasts are in for a treat with three brand new, officially licensed shoe designs that will allow fans to express their pilot loyalty on their feet.

New Official Evangelion Shoes Bring ’90s-Style Fashion to Mecha Anime Fans

The timing is perfect, given that the franchise just turned thirty years old and has been a significant part of pop culture for all these decades. Notably, it was in 1995 when the original anime made its debut. To mark this occasion, there’s a special limited-edition collection of sneakers inspired by the mecha Units 01, 02, and 00 from the series. These characters were piloted by Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Sohryu, and Rei Ayanami respectively. Each pair emulates the distinct colors and mechanical aesthetics of their Evangelion units, transforming fans’ footwear into fashionable mecha tributes.

  • Unit 01 boasts Shinji’s classic purple and green color scheme on a black base, accented with familiar neon that screams Third Impact chic.
  • Unit 02 goes full Asuka with bold red elements and a speckled pattern across its white panels. The design mirrors the mecha’s pilot: loud, attention-grabbing and impossible to ignore.
  • Unit 00 rounds out the trio with Rei’s prototype colors: clean white with yellow panels and blue laces — the minimalist option for fans.

In this apparel, every sneaker maintains FILA’s iconic blend of athletic and streetwear styles from the ’90s era, yet showcases unique visual elements inspired by Evangelion. These sneakers are equipped with reinforced toe boxes, cushioned soles, and a notable amount of Eva branding that catches the eye for those familiar with the brand.
