You Can Now Rewind Twitch Live Streams, But There’s A Catch

As a Twitch viewer, I’ve been waiting *ages* for this! It’s awesome to hear that Twitch finally added the ability to pause and rewind streams! Dan Clancy announced it this week, though it looks like it doesn’t work on *every* stream just yet.

I was so excited to hear that Twitch is finally letting viewers take emotes from other channels! Clancy announced it on a live stream (The Verge covered it), but there’s a catch – right now, it only works if you’re a Twitch Turbo subscriber or if you already follow the channels you want to grab emotes from. Sadly, it doesn’t work on the mobile app just yet, which is a bummer.

I was super excited when Clancy announced this new feature! Basically, it keeps the chat going even when people pause or rewind the stream. That means you can still see all the excitement and get the context of what’s happening, even if you missed something. It’s like you never really left – you can quickly catch up and jump right back into the action.

Don’t miss out on your favorite Twitch streams! đź’ś Now, Turbo and channel subscribers can pause, rewind, and easily catch up on streams that offer this feature. ⏪ You can find more details in our help article: 📚

Twitch streamers need to turn on the rewind and pause features themselves, and these features are only available to those who are official Twitch affiliates or partners.

Clancy shared that the rewind feature will come to mobile devices eventually, and Twitch will gradually release it to all users. He explained that Twitch is carefully rolling it out to prevent people from skipping ads. Rewind also won’t be an option for DJ channels due to copyright restrictions.

Twitch is still a leading platform for live streamers, and recently helped popularize the indie horror game ‘No, I’m Not a Human.’ Leaders from Twitch, Valve, Discord, and Reddit have also been asked to appear before Congress to discuss the issue of online radicalization.
