In my gaming world, Monster Hunter Wilds just got an update! It brings a mix of tweaks, big and small, to everyone’s favorite animal-slaying adventure. Just like with many PC game updates, the patch notes are a blend of practical fixes for broken weapons, and some downright strange issues, like resolving the bug where chopping off an Ajarakan’s tail would result in another monster’s body part growing instead. Plus, no more exploiting the Gore Magala by stacking a dozen boulders on top of it!
The issues mentioned in this case are detailed in Capcom’s FAQ regarding current problems. As of today, 10th March, the following technical difficulties have been addressed:
– “Grill a Meal” and “Ingredient Center” features failing to unlock
– Inability to access the Field Guide
– Players falling through the map during the mission “Toward Fervent Fields”
– NPCs missing from “A World Turned Upside Down”
– Repeated tutorials
– Malfunctions with Lance Power Guards and mantles
– Insect Glaive offset attacks causing the hunter to glitch out
– Force quits resulting from a screen rendering bug
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and I’m just listing and rewording them all. It seems that AI assistance might be encroaching on my job duties!
Let’s jump right to the key points. Initially, they rectified an issue where certain environmental elements like floating debris could be abused repeatedly. I’ve never been able to do it myself, but after investigating a related video from another player on Reddit, it turns out that exploiting Hirabami in this manner isn’t the intended way to defeat him. However, it does work, so it can’t be criticized for its effectiveness.
Additionally, they’ve addressed that problem in an unusual way by having discarded monster limbs turning into parts of different monsters – as shown in this video where a stubborn Ajarakan repeatedly expels fragments of Gravios. I find this game glitch quite amusing since it seems like Capcom has unintentionally turned Monster Hunter into a Monster Collecting Machine. In my personal experience, Monster Hunter is generally not aggressive with its random loot drops, but who knows, maybe this is secretly them experimenting with an incredible, magical creature featuring three revolving eyes and one large arm that can be pulled out using your slinger to make various wyvern organs drop.
The FAQ also spotlights a few Monster Hunter Wilds bugs they’re still working on. These include network errors when firing an SOS flare right after a quest begins, link members (aka, people you’ve formed a regular four-person hunting party with) not being prioritised when deciding which players appear in base camps, Palico blunt weapons failing to inflict stun and exhaust, and problems with your profile not being editable and certain side missions being unfinishable.
Monster Hunter Wilds remains popular on Steam, and while I’ve temporarily moved on due to my news-gathering obligations, I can’t help but wonder how you’re faring in it, should you still be engaged.
