Yes Studios Unveils Trailer for Action Thriller ‘Embassy Down’ From ‘Your Honor’ Creator Ahead of Series Mania Launch (EXCLUSIVE)

Yes Studios, creators of “Fauda,” are set to debut the gripping six-part series titled “Embassy Down” at the Series Mania festival in Lille. This new project hails from the same mind behind “Your Honor.

Based on real occurrences, the drama series “Embassy Down” unfolds in the year 2011 and recounts the seizure of the Israeli embassy situated within Cairo’s Tahrir Square during Egypt’s Arab Spring, a period marked by uprisings across various Arab nations. The character-focused narrative delves into the experiences of five Israelis who found themselves trapped inside the embassy for 24 hours, as an enraged mob outside attempted to storm in repeatedly, aiming to breach the embassy walls.

As a movie critic, I had the privilege of viewing “Embassy Down,” a multilingual masterpiece skillfully crafted in Hebrew, Arabic, English, and French. This captivating film was co-created and penned by none other than Shlomo Moshiach, renowned for his work on acclaimed series like “Your Honor” and “The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem.

The principal roles are played by Sean Softi (from “Checkout”), Maor Schwietzer (of “Shtisel”), Yael Elkana (“The Chef”), Ran Kaplan (“Superdaddy”), Yoel Rozenkier (“The Commune”), Ali Ali (“The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem”), Hisham Suliman and Wael Hamdoun (“Fauda,” “Your Honor”), Igal Naor (“Oslo, Munich Games”), Moris Cohen (“The Malevolent Bride”) as well as Dina Sanderson (“The Commune”).

Here’s the trailer:

The show “New York” was helmed by director Ariel Benbaji, who collaborated with Moshiach and Ester Namdar-Tamam in its creation. Produced by Artza Productions (known for “The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem”) and yes TV, the series made its debut on Yes TV on February 4th.

Sharon Levi, managing director of Yes Studios, shared her thoughts on “Embassy Down,” stating that it illuminates a captivating era from not too long ago by incorporating authentic events into an engaging narrative about individuals under siege, unsuccessful rescue missions, and strained personal and professional connections, all occurring amidst volatile global politics. Levi was particularly attracted to the two narratives: one unfolding in Cairo during the events and another in France a year following the embassy siege. Levi emphasized that what makes this show unique is its setting during an “intriguing period,” featuring intricate characters, intense action sequences, and diverse international locations.
