In a nod to one of the greatest sketches ever: “Oh my goodness, she acknowledges it!” Catherine O’Hara concedes that her character in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s The Studio bears a strong resemblance to film producer and ex-Sony head Amy Pascal. “I don’t know Amy Pascal on a personal level,” O’Hara shared with IndieWire on March 31, “and I didn’t delve too deeply into researching her because I didn’t want to be accused of portraying someone specifically. However, if you ask Seth and Evan, the scriptwriters, they may have a particular person in mind.

In this story, O’Hara portrays Patty Leigh, a former studio boss who has been replaced by the character played by Seth Rogen. Pascal, who was fired from Sony in 2015 after nine years, previously held this position. Previously, O’Hara had avoided such comparisons. “I didn’t study anyone because I didn’t want to—I was scared,” she told Variety on March 27.
