It’s uncertain how the second season of 1923 will conclude in 2023, but what leaves viewers perplexed is the role of Spencer Dutton within the storyline.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but wonder about the upcoming Yellowstone prequel. The question that lingers in my mind is: Will I find myself back in the wilds of Montana with Spencer and Alex?
From the start of 1923, Spencer’s comeback was the most significant plotline. After fleeing to Africa to chase lions and live wildly, he receives an urgent letter from Aunt Cara asking him to return home to help save the ranch. With his new bride Alex by his side, he embarks on a voyage aboard a ship, setting sail for their homeland.
Essentially, the future of the ranch relies heavily upon Spencer. However, some spectators find it hard to grasp how his return could significantly alter things.
The 1923 finale relies on Spencer saving the day
1923 saw the Duttons face a critical predicament. Over the course of Season 1, they suffered the tragic losses of John and Emma. To make matters worse, they were ensnared in Donald Whitfield’s financial machinations, who cleverly paid off their debts with the ulterior motive of seizing control over their land.
Additionally, following a shootout where Jacob was gravely wounded, Cara penned a letter to Spencer urging him to return home. However, one might question what action Spencer would take in response.
An individual posed a question: ‘He needs to return home to aid in defending their territory, but with just one person, what on earth can he possibly accomplish when he arrives?’
The person agreed with the statement: “Spencer’s contribution is crucial in finding a solution for their tax issues, right? It seems like Whitfield’s leverage is primarily this, but could there be other factors at play that I’m not aware of?
It’s a fair question. What can Spencer do that Jacob or Jack (or Cara, even) can’t?
A different person noted, “There’s something odd about this program. It seems that the structure of the show delays the main action or story until Spencer arrives home. However, most of the show appears to focus on Spencer’s journey home, which feels more like unnecessary content, making it feel like filler.
It’s clear from all indications that Spencer is likely to end up killing Donald Whitfield. He has raw power and combat expertise working in his favor, and he’s no stranger to physical confrontation. If he decides to use force tactically, it could be a possible resolution to their issues.
