‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Part 2 Premiere Ratings Rise 29% in Delayed Viewing, Paramount Says

As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of watching Western dramas under my belt, I must say that the resurgence of “Yellowstone” is nothing short of phenomenal. The sheer magnitude of its viewership, reaching an astounding 21 million viewers in Live+3 ratings, is a testament to the enduring appeal of this neo-Western masterpiece.

The return of “Yellowstone” continues to drive big ratings for Paramount.

For the initial airing of Part 2 of Season 5’s intense neo-Western series, viewership jumped to 21 million viewers when considering ratings up to 3 days after broadcast, as reported by VideoAmp. Notably, Paramount Global is not utilizing Nielsen data at this time because their contract expired in September; however, discussions are ongoing regarding a potential renewal.

Furthermore, as stated by Paramount, this episode holds the record for the largest premiere outside the U.S. on their streaming platform, Paramount+. At present, it can only be streamed exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK, Latin America, France, and Canada. Next year, it will also become available on Paramount+ in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

Initially, it was announced through VideoAmp that the debut garnered 16.4 million viewers on Paramount Network, CBS, and other cable networks owned by Paramount, which aired the episode simultaneously, as well as subsequent airings. This suggests an increase of around 29% in Live+3 ratings compared to the initial Live+Same Day viewership.

Based on Nielsen’s analysis as seen by EbMaster, the premiere attracted around 13.62 million live and same-day viewers across the mentioned networks. If we get hold of Nielsen’s Live+3 data, this post will be updated accordingly.

The opening episode resumed where Season 5 ended in January 2023, signifying the start of the series without Kevin Costner. For five and a half seasons, Costner played John Dutton, the leader of the Western drama, but he parted ways with the show due to unresolvable scheduling conflicts with his movie series “Horizon.
