Over the weekend, the opening episode of “Yellowjackets” in its third season garnered approximately 2 million viewers on both Showtime and Paramount+ streaming platforms.
The figure surpasses the viewership of the Season 2 debut, which was close to 2 million in the year 2023. These numbers encompass the assessment by Nielsen of Showtime’s broadcasts on television and Paramount Global’s own data about streaming viewership.
As stated by Paramount Global, the latest episode set a new record for streaming viewership in the series, witnessing a significant surge of 58% over the Season 2 premiere. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t a direct comparison: The Season 2 debut took place when Showtime was still operating independently, whereas Season 3 is being released after Showtime had been incorporated into Paramount+, which boasts a larger subscriber base.
Showtime’s parent company, Paramount Global, boasts that the premiere of “Yellowjackets” Season 3 surpassed the December 2024 launch of “Dexter: Original Sin” as their most-discussed series on social media to date. During its debut weekend, it garnered a staggering 9 million views and 1 million user interactions on various platforms, marking a significant rise of 545% in views and an impressive 1197% increase in engagements compared to Season 2. The data was collected from Social Content Ratings, Sprinklr, Facebook Ads Manager, and TikTok Ads Manager.
Yellowjackets” was developed by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who are the executive producers and showrunners in collaboration with Jonathan Lisco.
