Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will have 26 minutes of new cutscenes with 60 fps and 4K resolution in TV mode

Previously announced, Nintendo hosted Switch 2 Premiere events in Japan and the US, coinciding with the April 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. At these events, it was possible to try out games like the Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut. Through Famitsu’s interview and feedback from the Japanese venue, we have gathered additional information on this new port.

The main points from Sega’s official press release include the introduction of Red Light Raid, an online mode supporting up to 60 playable characters, as well as enhanced language options and fresh story cutscenes. A recent interview with producer Makoto Suzuki in Famitsu revealed that these new cutscenes will collectively run for approximately 26 minutes.

In terms of the Red Light Raid mode, you can connect with up to four players from around the globe for a session. Interestingly, while the Japanese name for this mode is “Raid Online Battle”, it’s also playable solo, according to Suzuki.

The demo for the Director’s Cut version of Yakuza 0 allows players to choose between starting from scratch or jumping in at Chapter 2, and play for 15 minutes while the Nintendo Switch is linked to a TV. In response to queries about the resolution and frame rate of the Switch 2 port, the producer stated that the team aims to keep the game running smoothly at 60 frames per second for optimal action gameplay.

Regarding the resolution, Suzuki mentioned 4K for TV viewing, yet hinted that the game would still appear stunning when displayed on the Switch 2’s screen in handheld mode.

The Director’s Cut version of Yakuza 0, developed by Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, is scheduled to debut among the initial games when the Nintendo Switch 2 hits global shelves on June 5 this year.
