Another quarrel in the never-ending bazaar of cryptocurrency flares up, as if stirred by a bellboy who forgot to switch off the lamp. Bill Morgan, self-styled attorney of the crypto faith, insists that XRP was deliberately nudged into the shadows. On X, he whispers that Felix Salmon’s 2013 article, The Promise of Ripple, has been scrubbed from the public library of the internet, as though a bureaucrat with a red stamp found it inconvenient for the narrative ledger.
Bill Morgan flags alleged suppression of XRP narrative
Morgan argues that the article once proved XRP was superior to Bitcoin (BTC in the cryptic shorthand of worshippers) at the dawn of the era. In those early days, the skeptics clung to Bitcoin as if it were the orange peel in a grand banquet, while Ripple-associated XRP received the enthusiastic claps of some respected journalists. He ponders why XRP’s bright tale has faded into the background noise, like a forgotten stagehand in a theater of code.
To bolster his claim, Morgan cites Grok, the X platform’s chatbot, which proclaims that “The Promise of Ripple” no longer exists. A digital oracle, it seems, has decided to erase a chapter from the book of crypto prophecy, conveniently avoiding the risk of suggesting XRP might have had a head start.
Notably, Morgan’s stance follows his earlier update that part of a sensitive U.S. file containing Salmon’s thoughts about XRP was redacted. He implies that the blanked-out segment is not mere censorship but a deliberate act to protect a narrative-some 13 years hence, in 2026, when the clocks still pretend to keep time with the market.
The self-proclaimed digital asset enthusiast even insinuates that Bitcoin’s triumph in the crypto arena is not the product of pure chemistry and logic alone, but the result of “Bitcoin propaganda” masquerading as merit.
It’s OK. Even though Grok states that Felix Salmon’s 2013 blog on Ripple called “The Promise of Ripple” has been taken down. I found a copy rather quickly at:

Morgan suggests that Bitcoin advocates successfully drowned out competing ideas while minimizing XRP’s presence. In essence, he accuses Bitcoin boosters of reframing XRP so that Bitcoin might glide ahead while XRP limps in the shadows, a petty spectacle worthy of a signature on parchment rather than a ledger entry.
He maintains that the redaction of XRP in the recently released sensitive file proves his point. The blotted-out section, he says, was about guarding a narrative. XRP was once seen as technically superior to Bitcoin, until the scribes decided to strike it from the record.
Market reality: Bitcoin dominance still holds
However, the chorus of Bitcoin enthusiasts maintains that BTC remains the lead dragon of the crypto realm. It continues to dictate the price weather across assets, its storms felt by altcoins in the wake of a recent 10% drop in the past week.
XRP, in the same week, has sagged by 11.66%. At the moment of this writing, XRP hovers around $1.40, a 2.85% decline in the last 24 hours, with an intraday peak of $1.47 dancing like a boastful cat on a windowsill. Trading volume has recoiled by 12.78%, wiping about $3.17 billion off the board in this brief theatrical act.
