xQc’s Shocking Panic Attack Confession: Why He Dreads Plane Travel

In a chat with DJ Akademiks, xQc disclosed that he experiences severe apprehension when traveling by airplanes. This fear has significantly impacted his in-person streams overseas.

In March 2025, streaming sensation Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel joined the yearly Sidemen Charity Football Match that took place in London, drawing a live crowd of more than 90,000 spectators. However, it proved challenging for him to make the transatlantic journey.

It’s true; during a livestream conversation with popular podcaster DJ Akademiks in April, Lengyel openly disclosed his severe fear of flying, specifically being on airplanes.

Initially, xQc mentioned his attempts to stream from Japan over several years; however, when Akademiks confessed his fear of being on a flight for such duration, Lengyel also expressed his difficulty in handling long flights.

xQc says flying overseas triggers panic attacks & hospital fears

He confided that his fear of flying is quite severe. He often wakes up multiple times, experiencing intense bouts of anxiety that feel like panic attacks. As he stirs from sleep, these fears quickly escalate, reaching a point where he considers leaping out of a window in desperation.

In simpler terms, I often experience intense fear that’s equivalent to believing I might be dying multiple times during a flight. Yet, I continue to fly despite this fear.

…”It gives me a strong urge to contact the woman and ask, ‘Hey, shall we divert and head to the hospital?’ Every time I travel internationally by air, I find myself constantly worrying, ‘If an emergency arises, we can’t just make an unscheduled stop and go to the hospital.’

Although xQc’s longest flight has only been a nine-hour journey from North America to London, he is open to taking the 16-hour trip to Japan for an upcoming live stream, by investing a substantial $15K on premium first-class tickets for a luxurious, confined compartment.

Many influencers, including Lengyel and Akademiks, are not alone in their struggle with flight anxiety. Notable figures such as 100 Thieves owner Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag and popular YouTuber MoistCritikal also share this fear, finding the concept of flying “terrifying.
