Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, the popular streaming star, has voiced his concerns about Twitch’s inconsistency in enforcing its rules. He seems to believe that streamers aren’t facing the same consequences as he did for infractions of a similar nature.
In recent times, Twitch’s moderation practices have faced scrutiny from various angles. For instance, when streamers advocated for stricter measures against gambling streams, Twitch complied. Yet, there are voices suggesting a broader application of rules across the platform.
As a dedicated gamer and streamer, I can’t help but notice that some fellow streamers feel that the bans handed out by platforms like Twitch could be a bit more stringent at times. For instance, xQc has voiced his concerns about what seems to be leniency in enforcing rules against creators who have broken them just as he has in the past.
Previously, I was prohibited from sharing a rap music video due to its suggestive content, similar to many others, you understand? Yes, I was banned. That’s all. Despite the terms of service regarding nudity not having been updated at that time, as more streamers emerged and viewership grew, Twitch took action. They didn’t adjust the terms of service, but it seemed that fewer people were being penalized for such content, according to his July 7 stream.

This individual from Canada also highlighted the outdated regulations regarding explicit sexual content, gory scenes, and violence. He mentioned that penalties are no longer being imposed for actions that he had been previously penalized for.
The Terms of Service have undergone a shift that feels strange and unusual to me. Frankly, it’s bizarre. I won’t make a fuss over it, but I feel compelled to express my thoughts.” He went on to say…
I feel comfortable expressing my indifference towards Terms of Service agreements and being overly cautious. frankly, I couldn’t care less. At this point, it seems unnecessary to continue doing so since everyone doesn’t adhere to the rules in the same way as I do, and they don’t have to. So, it just seems pointless and unappealing.
Additionally, he encouraged Twitch to revise its guidelines regarding potentially harmful content, emphasizing that “regulated” material should be considered acceptable on their platform.
It seems challenging to rephrase the Terms of Service to clearly explain our past and present actions. It’s actually quite straightforward, but Twitch appears to prefer operating in the gray zone, doesn’t it?
In an interview with The Game Business Live in June, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy mentioned that the fundamental rules of Twitch haven’t undergone significant changes. However, he emphasized a greater emphasis on the methods and tones used when enforcing these rules.
