Xbox’s PC Game Bar Just Raised The Bar With Refreshed Quick Settings

Microsoft’s latest PC update has revamped the Settings section within the Game Bar, making it easier for gamers to modify audio levels and screen brightness more conveniently. Moreover, these enhancements can be accessed in both compact and regular modes, while also featuring a switch that lets users toggle between compact mode for easy access and desktop mode for full functionality.

As a gamer, I recently discovered that the Xbox app update on my PC now offers a sleeker way to access an on-screen keyboard, adjust settings for Bluetooth devices, and enable airplane mode, all through the Game Bar’s settings widget. This follows the addition of Wi-Fi and battery status icons in compact mode, suggesting that Microsoft is making the Xbox app more user-friendly for handheld gaming. To add to the excitement, there have been photo leaks showing an Xbox-branded ROG Ally 2, aligning with earlier rumors about a partnership between Microsoft and Asus on a handheld device.

In this latest Xbox upgrade, these novel features are included along with the arrival of Retro Classics across all Game Pass levels. The collection encompasses classic games such as Pitfall and Commando, plus the original PlayStation game MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat.

This week, participants in the Xbox Insider program were given fresh methods to personalize their console’s home screen. For instance, they can now conceal system applications from appearing in the “Recently Played” section, and they can also pin up to three games or apps to show up in the “Recently Played” horizontal strip.

In the future, Microsoft is arranging the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 on June 8 at 10 AM Pacific Time (PT), which is 1 PM Eastern Time (ET) and 6 PM in the United Kingdom. Following this event, there will be a dedicated presentation for The Outer Worlds 2.
