As a seasoned gamer with decades of controller-clutching under my belt, I must say that Microsoft’s Xbox Year in Review tool has become one of my favorite annual traditions. The excitement of discovering which game I’ve sunk the most hours into, the thrill of comparing myself to fellow gamers around the globe, and the nostalgia-inducing highlights from the gaming year – it never gets old!
For 2024, Microsoft has made available the Xbox Year in Review online tool, allowing you to find out which game was your favorite for the year, the total number of hours you spent gaming, and much more!
To check out your gaming statistics, simply navigate to this Xbox website for a quick start. Once you’re there, you’ll find details such as your favorite game, annual highlights, and how you compare to players worldwide. Additionally, Microsoft has introduced some new features in the Year in Review section, including personalizing your interface with your most-played game’s theme and a breakdown of your Game Pass usage.

Apart from the usual updates, there’s an exclusive video greeting from the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer. In his message, he shares that he spent most of this year immersed in Diablo IV and Fallout 76. Interestingly, his gaming friends found themselves re-engaging with Fallout 76 following the premiere of its TV series on Prime Video. It turns out, they weren’t the only ones. The number of players for Fallout games significantly increased in April due to the show’s positive reception.
Spencer likewise discusses the fresh initiative to emphasize that Xbox is not just a gaming console; rather, it represents a platform for play. He asserts that everyone should be able to enjoy games on their preferred device, whether it’s Xbox Series X, a smartphone, or even a PC. This perspective might be the reason behind the “Xbox Year in Review” feature, which categorizes gameplay time based on where you played: console, PC, mobile, or cloud.
Every year, Xbox’s Year in Review event is a tradition for the company, and it’s anticipated that Sony and Nintendo will follow suit with their own reviews soon. As for 2024, there’s still some time left on the clock. For example, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the games expected to join Game Pass this month.
