Microsoft is using a popular internet meme – a former boxer claiming to be retired – in its newest Xbox commercial. The ad, part of Microsoft’s ongoing “This is an Xbox” campaign, also showcased the recently released Asus ROG Xbox Ally X, a new gaming device made for the Xbox platform.
This year, Microsoft has been emphasizing the Xbox experience as a whole – rather than just the consoles themselves – as they plan for the future. Jason Ronald, Vice President at Xbox, recently explained that Microsoft wants to expand the Xbox ecosystem to work across a variety of devices, suggesting more options and flexibility for players.
In August, Ronald explained that Microsoft’s main goal is to make Xbox games accessible on any device, while also continuing to create powerful, dedicated gaming hardware like the Xbox Series X|S and devices such as the Xbox Ally.
Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, has hinted that the next Xbox might function more like a personal computer. To create the hardware for this gaming console, Microsoft is collaborating with AMD again. Despite some impressive marketing efforts, Microsoft’s gaming division has faced challenges this year, including job cuts, canceled games, and the closing of some game studios.
Microsoft is aiming for very high profits from its game studios, according to a new report. To achieve this, the company has recently increased the cost of Xbox consoles and Game Pass subscriptions.
