Xbox is officially working on next-gen consoles

Microsoft’s Xbox team has recently confirmed they are developing their upcoming generation consoles, about half a decade since the launch of the Series S and X models.

Since their debut in November 2020, the Series S|X consoles have dominated the market primarily due to the widespread appeal of their Game Pass subscription service.

Enthusiasts have long been anticipating news about Xbox developing the next generation of gaming consoles, and indeed, on June 17th, their suspense was confirmed.

In a recently released video, it’s been uncovered that the firm owned by Microsoft is developing cutting-edge devices and cloud solutions, such as a future Xbox gaming console and the earlier mentioned ROG Xbox Ally portable device.

Xbox confirms next-gen console is underway

Xbox President Sarah Bond shared that our goal is to let you enjoy your preferred games alongside the people you choose, wherever you are, and that’s why we’re pouring resources into developing our future hardware range for consoles, portable devices, computers, cloud services, and accessories,” she explained.

Furthermore, Bond disclosed that they have established a long-term collaboration with AMD, which will be instrumental in powering the upcoming devices, such as their upcoming Xbox console models.

Announcing that we’re collaborating with AMD to create the next generation of our Xbox brand devices and cloud solutions, encompassing future Xbox consoles.

Expect top-tier performance, advanced graphics, innovative gameplay, and unrivaled compatibility. Keep an eye out for more updates soon.

In partnership with AMD, we’re pushing the boundaries in gaming processors to bring forth the future of graphic technologies, aiming for a higher level of visual detail, engaging gameplay, and immersive experiences enriched by artificial intelligence, as Bond explained.

They are also striving to provide an Xbox experience that isn’t limited to one store or device. Contrary to speculation about incorporating the Steam store into the next-gen Xbox, Bond seems to be alluding to Xbox Play Anywhere – a feature that lets you play games on both console and PC.

In the meantime, while we eagerly await official news about Xbox’s upcoming console, gaming enthusiasts can explore the anticipated ROG Xbox Ally handheld device, a collaboration between Xbox and Asus, slated for release towards the end of 2025.
