The makers of Fortnite argued in court that Google made it excessively challenging for rival app stores on Google Play to thrive, which eventually led to this ruling. Regardless, with the ability to now sell games directly to consumers within the Xbox app’s integrated store, Microsoft may no longer need to pay a commission to Google, which could have been necessary otherwise.
