Xbox Games Will Soon Be Sold In A New Place

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, this latest development from Microsoft has got me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning! The ability to purchase and play Xbox games directly from my Android device is an absolute game-changer (pun intended). I’ve always been partial to the Xbox ecosystem, but the convenience factor here is next level.

Due to a recent court decision, Microsoft is planning to enable Xbox enthusiasts to buy and play Xbox games right within the Xbox app on Android devices.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled about the latest development in the Epic v. Google case. This week, a judge decided that Google must let other app stores compete within Google Play, and this move could pave the way for Microsoft to sell Xbox games directly to gamers like me starting November 1st! This exciting push, led by Tim Sweeney from Epic, is opening up new possibilities in the gaming world.

The makers of Fortnite argued in court that Google made it excessively challenging for rival app stores on Google Play to thrive, which eventually led to this ruling. However, as reported by The Verge, it remains uncertain why Microsoft wasn’t already offering Xbox games through its existing Android application. Regardless, with the ability to now sell games directly to consumers within the Xbox app’s integrated store, Microsoft may no longer need to pay a commission to Google, which could have been necessary otherwise.

According to recent reports, Xbox President Sarah Bond stated their goal is to make gaming accessible across various devices.

The court decision to make Google’s mobile marketplace accessible in the U.S. expands options and versatility for users. It’s our objective to encourage a broader range of competitors on various platforms, so we’re excited to announce that starting from November, gamers will be able to play and acquire Xbox games directly…

At the moment, it’s unclear which particular games will be offered for sale through the Xbox app. It’s also important to note that this pertains only to the United States market as of now, and Google is challenging the ruling.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited about the prospect of Microsoft unveiling its own mobile game store in the future, expanding beyond just selling games within the Xbox app for Android. Recently, they’ve merged the Xbox Game Pass app into the main Xbox app, which is quite convenient. Plus, there are rumors swirling about Microsoft potentially integrating a handheld device into the next-gen Xbox consoles – now that would be something to look forward to!
