It’s common knowledge that Xbox boasts a rich lineup of games slated for release in 2025, but what we know thus far only scratches the surface of what’s being developed at Xbox Game Studios. In an interview, Craig Duncan, the head of Xbox Game Studios, hinted that Microsoft is holding back on announcing many more games yet.
During an interview on the Xbox podcast, Duncan shared what he’s currently playing and his future gaming plans. He mentioned that he frequently plays Microsoft’s exclusive games, including titles yet to be announced. In his words, “There are quite a few projects we haven’t revealed yet, so I naturally spend a significant amount of time with those unannounced games.
This year, it appears that Microsoft is releasing more games for the PS5 compared to Sony, with titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Age of Mythology: Retold, The Outer Worlds 2, and Ninja Gaiden 4 set to join the PS5’s library.
Regarding potential unveilings of future Xbox games, it’s likely that Microsoft will host an event this June, where we might get more details about upcoming Xbox releases. One of these anticipated games, Fable, initially planned for 2025, has been postponed to 2026 and may also be available on the PS5. Other forthcoming Xbox titles include a fresh installment of Perfect Dark and Gears of War: E-Day. There are whispers about a Halo game potentially making its way onto the PS5, while Microsoft has acknowledged the development of several new Halo projects.
In addition, during the interview, Duncan expressed his reaction to the announcement of Switch 2 in January. He commented that it was “neat” to witness Nintendo unveiling the console. Furthermore, he mentioned that he is consistently intrigued and eager to discover what Nintendo has planned for its fans. Prior to this, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer hinted at a strong possibility that their company would port games to Switch 2, which aligns with their new multiplatform strategy.
Recently, Duncan has been appointed as the head of Xbox Game Studios, this move comes after his long tenure as the leader at the studio behind Sea of Thieves, Rare.
