Microsoft recently declared that they are discontinuing the Xbox Ambassadors program, which has been running for 13 years. In a statement, Microsoft expressed gratitude to the fans who have backed the program for over a decade, but they feel it’s necessary to shut it down because of changes in “the requirements of our global community.
The Xbox Ambassadors program will conclude at the end of this present season, wrapping up around mid-October. Microsoft has announced that they are discontinuing the program due in part to Xbox players discovering greater worth in other related areas, such as the Xbox Insider program, Fanfest events, and the Xbox Rewards scheme.
Microsoft stated, “Due to the efforts of this team, gamers worldwide can enjoy their favorite pastime in a more diverse and welcoming manner than before. We think now is an opportune time to incorporate the insights and ethos of the Ambassador group into all our player interaction initiatives.
Microsoft has announced that they are discontinuing Seasonal Ambassador quests, choosing instead to direct their resources towards the Xbox Rewards and Xbox Research programs. Further details about these changes will be shared shortly.
Microsoft stated that you’ll find a fresh, internationally-oriented method to communicate your feedback to them directly via Xbox Research. This will not only give you an opportunity to get early access to brand new games and features but also aid in enhancing the overall Xbox user experience for all.
Furthermore, the Xbox Ambassador Champions program is being transformed into something known as Xbox Community Champions.
Microsoft acknowledges that the development of this program might seem like a change or departure for some of you, but our commitment to fostering a welcoming environment for considerate gamers remains unwavering. We are extremely grateful for your contributions and with your ongoing participation, we will jointly continue to make Xbox an enjoyable space for all.
The Xbox Ambassadors program will cease operation on October 15, marking the final day for current ambassadors to redeem any outstanding rewards. Microsoft is offering an extra token of appreciation to those members who were active during the recent season, but details regarding this gesture remain unclear.
From now until October 15th, Microsoft is hosting weekly sweepstakes as a last opportunity for Ambassadors to utilize their remaining ticket balance. Additionally, the Xbox Ambassador badge currently held by members will receive an update at some point in the future featuring a “legacy” design.
In the past few months, Microsoft has implemented several reductions and adjustments within its Xbox division. This includes approximately 2,500 job cuts at the Xbox team since the beginning of 2024.
