It seems that professional wrestler Roman Reigns is taking a leaf out of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s book and venturing into the world of acting, as he has secured a part in the forthcoming Street Fighter film.
Initially, Deadline announced that negotiations were taking place regarding a role for Reigns. Additionally, Andrew Koji, Jason Momoa, and Noah Centineo were also reported to be in discussions for roles in an upcoming movie based on a video game. Later, Jeff Sneider of The InSneider revealed that if Reigns signs the contract, he will portray Akuma in the project.
It’s worth noting that both Jason Momoa and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have been involved in the Fast & Furious series. Previously, Jason appeared in the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw alongside his cousin, The Rock. Conversely, Momoa portrayed the antagonist in Fast X.
In his acting career, Reigns will be making a significant debut with Street Fighter, having earlier showcased his talent in WWE-related productions such as Countdown and Rumble. Additionally, he landed a part in the 2020 movie The Wrong Missy.
Is Roman Reigns heading towards a movie career after WWE?
Reigns’ time in Street Fighter might signal a shift in his WWE career, potentially marking its decline. Lately, he’s hinted that his wrestling days are numbered, implying he’s preparing for new opportunities ahead.
Previously crowned as the Uncontested WWE Champion, he’s also expressed interests in other ventures, such as possibly vying for the position of Florida’s Governor. When questioned about this possibility, he responded with a grin, “Who knows? You just never know.
Over the past ten years, Reigns has consistently ranked among WWE’s most prominent figures. He is currently experiencing a comeback as a fan-favorite character for the first time in several years. His title reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion, which lasted 1,316 days, was brought to an end by Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
Following his defeat against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41 in a three-way bout involving CM Punk, Reigns took a break from the WWE screen. Over the past several weeks, there has been no sight of him, and it remains uncertain as to when he might make a comeback.
On May 10, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, the Backlash pay-per-view event took place without him. The next event is Money in the Bank scheduled for June 7, 2025. It’s possible that this is where he will reappear in a spectacular fashion.
