WWE’s NXT Viewership Jumps 44% in CW Debut

As a lifelong wrestling fan who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless superstars, I must say that Tuesday night’s debut of WWE’s NXT on The CW was nothing short of exhilarating. The 44% viewership increase from last week is a testament to the enduring appeal of this dynamic show.

The debut of WWE‘s NXT on The CW Tuesday night saw a significant jump in viewership.

On weeknights from 8 to 10 PM, WWE’s show for up-and-coming talents made its broadcast network premiere, attracting approximately 895,000 viewers. This represents a 44% increase compared to the previous week’s episode on USA Network. The viewership peaked at around 8:15 to 8:30 PM, with a total of 965,000 viewers tuning in. Moreover, this episode was the most-watched telecast on CW this year among adults aged 25-54 and 18-49, garnering 406,000 and 354,000 viewers respectively in these demographics.

The number of viewers significantly surged by 143% compared to CW’s average weekly prime-time audience during this season on weeknights, with broadcast stations in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Detroit reporting triple-digit growth in viewership compared to the previous week.

In its first airing on The CW, NXT witnessed Trick Williams reclaiming the NXT title. Additionally, notable figures like CM Punk, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair made surprise appearances. Coming up next week, WWE legend Randy Orton is scheduled for a special guest appearance.

In November 2023, it was revealed that NXT would be relocating from the USA to The CW under a five-year contract worth between $20 million and $25 million annually. NXT is the creation of Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who currently holds the position of WWE’s chief content officer. The program is presently supervised by Shawn Michaels, a WWE Hall of Famer with an illustrious in-ring career behind him.

Ever since it debuted, NXT has played a crucial role in WWE’s system for nurturing talent. Notable figures like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, and Kevin Owens all began their WWE careers through NXT.
