WWE Superstar Randy Orton Has Played "Like 600 Hours" Of Elden Ring

As a gamer who has spent countless hours exploring various virtual worlds, I can wholeheartedly appreciate the passion that Randy Orton, a WWE legend, has for Elden Ring. His dedication to the game, clocking in over 600 hours, is truly commendable, especially considering his busy schedule as a professional wrestler. It’s fascinating to see how our shared love for gaming transcends the boundaries of our respective domains – be it the squared circle or the Lands Between.

Since its launch in 2022, the Elden Ring community has been graced with numerous notable players, content creators, and personalities expressing their admiration for the game. Ranging from lore analysts such as SmoughTown and Vaatividya to adventurers like Let Me Solo Her and Jacksepticeye who have traversed the Lands Between, it came as a big shock when we discovered that one of professional wrestling’s greatest legends is an avid Elden Ring player.

WWE Champion Randy Orton replied on Twitter in April 2022 to a fan’s post, saying he also stepped into the world of The Lands Between and battled Demi-gods for their runes. Over two years after his original tweet, he recently shared how many hours he had spent playing as the malevolent Elden Lord in the game.

On August 15th, 2024, WWE posted the newest installment of their “What’s on Your Mind?” web series, hosted by current Universal Champion Cody Rhodes, a known enthusiast of The Legend of Zelda. In this episode, the titleholder welcomed his old friend and guide, Orton, aboard his bus for a chat about their shared past, who they believe is the best of all time (G.O.A.T.), Nutella, Mexico, and video games, among other topics.

The discussion commences at the 20:08 mark; following a brief reference to John Cena’s portrayal of Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1, the talk swiftly shifts towards Elden Ring. The 14-time World Champion disclosed that he has invested approximately 600 hours into Elden Ring, acknowledging that he had considerable free time during his injury layoff between 2022 and 2023, a period when he underwent spinal fusion surgery.

In their discussion about Elden Ring, Rhodes recalled an earlier chat where Orton had inquired about it. Although Orton is currently immersed in Shadow of the Erdtree, Rhodes has yet to experience the high-fantasy game or even begin playing it himself.

Indeed, Rhodes has been consistently engaged in safeguarding the Undisputed Universal Championship since wrapping up his story at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns, who made a comeback during this year’s SummerSlam. If Orton manages to conquer current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at the upcoming PLE Bash in Berlin on August 31st, 2024, he could claim his 15th World Championship title, delaying further conquests and accumulating more foes’ strengths until that time.
