WWE Gives First-Ever Look Into Writer’s Room and ‘Calculated’ Process in Netflix Doc: ‘We’re Gonna Lift the Curtain’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Netflix is pulling back the curtain on the WWE.

This coming summer, a captivating new docuseries titled “WWE: Unreal” will premiere, offering viewers an unprecedented, up-close glimpse into the inner workings of this renowned organization. The series is jointly produced by Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sports and WWE. Comprising 10 episodes, each lasting a full 50 minutes, it promises to be an enlightening journey.

Experience, for the very first time, a behind-the-scenes look at the WWE writers’ room and beyond the wrestling arena, where the excitement and drama that you see on stage are mirrored off-camera with your beloved WWE Superstars.

In the initial trailer for the documentary, the chief content officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, remarks, “This is a carefully planned, synchronized creation.” He adds, “The moment has come. We’re going to draw back the curtains.” (or simply, “We’re about to reveal what we’ve been preparing.”)

During the second night of WrestleMania on Sunday, WWE commentator Michael Cole hinted at a forthcoming appearance by the doctor, but as of yet, no debut date has been disclosed.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve recently watched a captivating production that has left me quite impressed. This masterpiece is the brainchild of Chris Weaver in the director’s chair, with Erik Powers skillfully steering the show as its showrunner. An impressive lineup of executive producers includes sports legend Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, Jessica Boddy, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser, and Marc Pomarico. Each of them has contributed their unique talents to create this cinematic gem.

In early 2025, Netflix secured the rights to WWE’s “Raw” for a staggering $5 billion, with an annual payment of $500 million over a decade, marking the beginning of their strategic partnership. Since its premiere in 1993, “Raw” has been broadcast on linear television, appearing on USA Network or temporarily on Spike TV. The global debut of “Raw” on Netflix, which took place in January, attracted an impressive viewership of 4.9 million.

Netflix has not only gained exclusive rights to air “Raw” in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Latin America, and various other regions, but it also serves as the broadcasting platform for all WWE shows, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble, everywhere outside the United States.
