On the WrestleMania 41 countdown show this past weekend, the following individuals – Paul “Triple H” Levesque (WWE chief content officer), Alberto Fasja (chairman of Filipp’s), Marisela Peña and Dorian Roldán Peña (from AAA), WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, and El Hijo Del Vikingo – made an announcement.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to be part of the collaboration between AAA and the Peña family. It’s a privilege to be involved in this venture, as AAA carries a deep cultural legacy and boasts some of the most dedicated fans out there. Combining WWE’s worldwide resources with AAA’s storied tradition, we eagerly anticipate a future brimming with fresh possibilities and excitement.
On June 7th, the Kia Forum in Los Angeles will host an exciting joint event between WWE and AAA, titled “Worlds Collide.” While specific matches are yet to be revealed, fans can expect a blend of stars from both WWE and AAA for this unforgettable show.
Hugo López-Velarde, a co-founder and co-CEO of Fillip, expressed excitement about collaborating with WWE and TKO for this project aimed at safeguarding AAA’s future for its fans and propelling the business to greater heights.
Founded by Antonio Peña back in 1992, AAA (Alliance American Wrestling) remains under the ownership and management of the Peña family. The Peñas will maintain their active participation in AAA, together with WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and Fillip. Known worldwide as one of the top lucha libre promotions, AAA has nurtured a roster of stars including Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, as well as more recent additions to WWE like Penta and Fénix.
AAA was established in 1992 by Antonio Peña and has been a family-managed enterprise for over three decades. This company boasts some of the most renowned wrestlers in lucha libre history, such as Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and Penta, who all spent significant portions of their careers with AAA. In the upcoming phase of AAA’s business, the Peña family will collaborate with WWE and Fillip.
For more than three decades, AAA has been a family-run business, and there’s no better place to entrust it than with one of the global giants in the sports entertainment industry,” stated Dorian Roldán Peña, AAA’s General Manager.
