Today, WWE revealed that their first joint Premium Live Event (PLE) with the newly-acquired Mexican promotion AAA, titled Worlds Collide, broke the company’s record for the largest live audience during a YouTube broadcast in history. The event reached a peak of 764,389 simultaneous viewers on both the WWE and WWE Español YouTube channels, particularly during the main event between AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo and WWE star Chad Gable.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the highly acclaimed crossover event, #WorldsCollide, is still accessible for free on YouTube. In just the first 24 hours, it garnered an astounding 4.1 million views on this platform alone! On Saturday, it was the top trending topic worldwide, and WWE’s social media platforms recorded a staggering 32 million views across all channels in that same timeframe. This epic collaboration between two beloved companies left fans and critics alike buzzing with excitement.
In various high-profile bouts, wrestlers representing both companies clashed, captivating audiences. Notably, several seasoned Mexican luchadores instantly resonated with first-time U.S. viewers, with Mr. Iguana being a prominent example. He has swiftly gained popularity among WWE fans and merchandise featuring him is already on sale at the WWE online store. The main event of the evening between El Hijo del Vikingo and Chad Gable was particularly impressive, and for many, it ranks among the best matches WWE has presented this year.
In April, it was revealed that the WWE had teamed up with Fillip, a Mexico-based sports and entertainment company, to acquire AAA. This partnership is set to continue in the future, and all three companies will make an appearance at the upcoming Triplemanía Regia on June 15. For the first time ever, TNA, WWE, and AAA wrestlers will perform together in the same event during this show.
