As a seasoned gamer with decades of wrestling game experience under my belt, the anticipation for WWE 2K25 is palpable. The annual release of these games has been a staple in my gaming calendar, much like the predictability of a Roman Reigns title win.
As the end of the year approaches, there’s growing excitement among fans about the upcoming launch of WWE 2K25. After giving the franchise a fresh start with WWE 2K22 by taking an extra year for development, each new release has consistently met expectations and added even more layers to various game modes. Anticipation is high that WWE 2K25 will continue this trend, and a recent report offers a tantalizing glimpse of what players can expect.
WWE 2K25 Development Update Confirms New Animations
For quite a while now, fans have been eagerly awaiting WWE 2K25, given that 2K Games seems unlikely to pause their annual series anytime soon. However, significant announcements, such as the release date, cover star, and different editions, are still roughly two months away. These details are anticipated in late January 2025, which coincidentally is around the time of the Royal Rumble event, suggesting that the potential unveiling date could be January 28, 2025.
At present, updates about the project originate from a PWInsider report. It seems that the development of WWE 2K25 is in full swing, with fresh motion capture work being carried out as well. This motion capture process involves recording entrances and other features for any new wrestlers joining the WWE 2K25 lineup, as well as capturing new move animations.
For quite some time now, that particular gameplay aspect has been an integral part of the gaming experience. Recently, I got the chance to delve deeper into its development through conversations with some wrestlers who contributed their motion-capture skills for 2K. Admittedly, the insights aren’t revolutionary, but it’s reassuring to know that WWE 2K25 is progressing as anticipated.
Over the past year, there’s been a lot of instability, which might lead to several wrestlers from the WWE 2K24 roster not appearing in WWE 2K25. This trend also applies to newly contracted wrestlers or those who didn’t quite make it onto the WWE 2K24 roster before deadline. This has significantly expanded the roster in recent years, and more additions can be expected as we move closer to the release of WWE 2K25. The clock is ticking, and we’ll find out more about the final lineup in the upcoming weeks and months.
