The much-anticipated WWE 2K25 has officially been unveiled, and we’ve already caught a glimpse of it in motion. Here’s what we’ve learned about the game so far, from its playable platforms to the face gracing its cover.
With a fresh page turned on the calendar, anticipation grows for another installment in the annual WWE series of video games. Traditionally unveiled during the first quarter of the year, this year’s focus is shifting towards WWE 2K25. While we’re still early in the game development cycle, some initial official details have been revealed to whet our appetite.
During its debut on Netflix on January 6, 2025, the upcoming version of the WWE game has been hinted at during WWE Raw’s premiere. This new edition boasts numerous improvements and updated rosters, ensuring that gamers remain content.
Below is a comprehensive rundown on everything we know about the next WWE game so far.
Is there a WWE 2K25 release date yet?
Currently, as I’m typing this, the official launch date for WWE 2K25 hasn’t been announced yet; however, we have a strong notion regarding its potential release timeframe.
Since stepping away from the annual releases of 2K titles in 2019, there’s been a consistent pattern to their launch schedule. WWE 2K22 was released on March 11, 2022, and since then, each new installment has followed suit. Here’s a brief overview of the release dates for the past three games:
1. WWE 2K22 – March 11, 2022
2. WWE 2K21 – October 28, 2020
3. WWE 2K20 – October 22, 2019
- WWE 2K22: Released March 11, 2022
- WWE 2K23: Released March 17, 2023
- WWE 2K24: Released March 8, 2024
Based on current information, it’s highly likely that WWE 2K25 will be launched somewhere during the month of March, 2025. However, if there are any unexpected setbacks, the release date might change. Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed as soon as an official release date is confirmed.
Platforms
Visiting the WWE 2K website indicates that WWE 2K25 will be available for purchase on Steam (PC), PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
At this point, it’s undecided whether this year’s edition will exclusively be playable on the latest generation consoles, or if it will still work on older platforms like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well.
At this moment, it’s uncertain whether this year’s WWE game will appear on the widely speculated Nintendo Switch 2. As we move forward, we expect to uncover more details, so be sure to return for updates.
Who is the WWE 2K25 cover star?
In the latest edition, WWE 2K25 features Roman Reigns as its main cover star. Following his historic victory over Solo Sikoa to initiate the Netflix era of Raw, Reigns was subsequently spotted strolling through the backstage corridors accompanied by his trusted advisor, Paul Heyman.
On Monday, January 27, 2025, teaser hinted that he would make his next TV appearance during the episode of Raw. As a door closed, a visible label for WWE 2K25 suggested that the original tribal chief will be featured on this year’s cover.

On the Steam page for the game, the cover was accidentally revealed early, thus verifying that the legendary wrestler once known as Big Dog will grace the cover of WWE 2K25.
It’s likely that Roman will appear in at least one version of the game, considering that 2K usually puts out several editions with different covers. For instance, take a look at 2K24’s 40 Years of WrestleMania edition.
On the cover of 2K20 last year, Roman was featured together with Becky Lynch. However, this time around, there are signs that he aims to dominate the entire game on his own.
Absolutely, there’s a possibility he might pass it along to his kin, or maybe even to his family adversary, Solo Sikoa. At present, we’re leaning towards the first scenario, considering it fitting to uphold the legitimate authority of the Tribal Chief.
WWE 2K25 roster details
Shortly following an initial hint during the Netflix debut of Raw, Xbox unveiled the initial sneak peek of WWE 2K25 in motion. Four wrestlers were showcased individually in separate screenshots, thereby disclosing the first group of characters for this year’s lineup.
In the grand unveiling, it was none other than CM Punk who’s stepping into the gaming world this time, joining the launch lineup for 2K25, following his appearance in the DLC pack for 2K24. Joining him is the reigning WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, the recently dethroned Women’s Champ, Liv Morgan, and the menacing half of the Terror Twins, Damian Priest. As a gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement!
2K Games also made a swift announcement, expanding their roster by including Bayley, formerly known for her affectionate side and now the founder of Damage CTRL, in their lineup.
Confirmed roster so far:
- Bayley
- CM Punk
- Cody Rhodes
- Damian Priest
- Liv Morgan
Without a shadow of a doubt, what we’re seeing now is just the beginning. WWE 2K rosters usually feature many current and past superstars across all main brands, like NXT. We’ll keep you posted if any more names are added to WWE 2K25.
