Accompanying the fresh map are numerous playable characters, a plethora of echoes to gather, puzzles and side missions to explore and accomplish, among other features. Update 2.0 – How to Unlock Nightmare Echoes Guide
Cracking open the mystery of the Nightmare Echoes couldn’t be easier! The key lies in wrapping up the side quest titled Dream Patrol I. To assist you, we’ve prepared a comprehensive guide detailing the steps to complete Dream Patrol I for you.
Essentially, what you have to do is converse with an odd-looking cat perched on a skyscraper in Ragunna City. There’s a big portal located nearby. Engaging this cat will wrap up a side quest for you. This chat also grants you the power to track down ‘Nightmare Echoes’, which will be clearly indicated on your map once detected.
Finishing this side mission grants you instant access to the following Nightmare Echoes along with their corresponding bosses:
Upon completion of this side quest, you will be granted immediate access to the mentioned Nightmare Echoes and their bosses.

Successfully finishing this side mission grants you instant access to the specified Nightmare Echoes and their bosses.
- Nightmare: Feilian Beringal – This boss can be found at Hallowed Reach.
- Nightmare: Mourning Aix – This boss can be found at Nimbus Sanctum.
- Nightmare: Inferno Rider – This boss can be found at Averardo Vault.
- Nightmare: Impermanence Heron – This boss can be found at Thessaleo Fells.
- Nightmare: Thundering Mephis – This boss can be found at Whisperwind Haven.
As long as they’re unlocked, their icons will appear on your map, ensuring you won’t lose your way when searching for them. However, do keep in mind that the challenging versions of Crownless and Tempest Mephis, referred to as ‘nightmare variants’, need additional items to be unlocked.
Keep on tackling tasks in the yet-unexplored areas as these aren’t managed by the previously mentioned bosses. Essentially, this is the key to unlocking them. So, if you’re up for it, there’s a lot of groundwork left for you to handle.
