WoT Season 4: The 4 Forsaken Who Will Wreak Havoc

Warning: Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3, episode 8

Approximately half of the characters from the Forsaken group in “The Wheel of Time” are expected to take on important roles in the fourth season. In the original storyline, there are thirteen Forsaken in this world, but there are significantly fewer in Amazon Prime Video’s live-action adaptation. By the end of season 3, only eight have been confirmed, with six still remaining. Three of these characters have yet to make their debut.

In much the same way as Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time novels portray it, it is likely that the Forsaken will function as the main antagonists throughout the series. After introducing Ishamael and Lanfear in season 2, the show eliminated Ishamael and escalated the menace of the Forsaken by introducing Moghedien, Sammael, and Rahvin. Given this setup, it seems reasonable to anticipate that season 4 will follow a similar pattern, featuring four members of the group as the series’ primary villains.

Lanfear

Lanfear Will Likely Be a Full-Fledged Villain In Season 4

In season 3 of “The Wheel of Time”, Lanfear was depicted as an ally to the Dragon Reborn, but given her character traits, this seemed short-lived. As predicted, the finale revealed that to be true, as Rand’s rejection triggered her true nature and set her on a destructive path. Now, she has shown interest in joining forces with Rahvin against Rand.

In the final episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, Lanfear’s role hints at her future conduct within the show. Historically, she’s been cunning and self-centered, but in the TV series, she’s largely kept her hostility towards Rand at bay. However, as she finds herself in a new predicament without any obligation to aid him in his mission, Lanfear could prove more treacherous than ever before.

Rahvin

Thanks To Thom, Elayne Now Knows “Gaebril” Is A Forsaken

Although Rahvin was among the strongest Forsaken characters in the books, he kept a low profile during The Wheel of Time’s third season. However, this doesn’t mean he wasn’t hatching some underhanded plans; interactions with other characters like Lanfear indicate that he’s exploiting his Compulsion ability to increase his power within Andor’s kingdom. As Thom Merrilin pointed out in the finale, Rahvin employed Compulsion to make Elayne believe they had a long-standing acquaintanceship.

In “The Fires of Heaven,” it becomes evident that Rand must journey to Caemlyn in order to thwart Rahvin’s schemes. This is because, having utilized Compulsion, Rahvin has assumed control over Queen Morgase Trakand as ruler of Andor – a fact now known by Elayne.

Lord Gaebril and perhaps Rahvin, as advised by Lanfear, seem intent on blocking Rand at the Stone of Tear. This could make them significant adversaries in the upcoming season 4.

Moghedien

Moghedien Is A Collision Course With Nynaeve

Similar to Rahvin and Lanfear, Moghedien poses a persistent danger for the primary characters in “The Wheel of Time” series. It appears that the storyline involving Nynaeve and Moghedien, which began in season 3, will carry on. In book 5, “The Fires of Heaven,” Nynaeve and Elayne pursued Moghedien using Tel’aran’rhiod after she had acquired the Domination Bands in Tanchico with the intention of controlling the Dragon Reborn. Given that season 3 ended with Moghedien possessing this item, it seems likely that the show will follow a similar path.

In the series, even though Moghedien is the least powerful of the Forsaken, she’s no pushover. Interestingly, she has a formidable partner now, Liandrin, who could potentially be a problem. Unlike the books, Liandrin aspires to join the ranks of the Forsaken herself, which might lead to her attempting to undermine Moghedien in the fourth season. However, this turn of events only serves to heighten the threat that Moghedien poses to Rand’s destiny as the Dragon Reborn throughout the course of the story.

Graendal

It Looks Like Graendal Will Be The Villain Of Perrin’s Season 4 Story

In simpler terms, it can be said that a conversation between Lanfear and Ishamael in season 2 hinted at the presence of Graendal, one of the Forsaken, in the show. In season 3, Rahvin mentioned his plans to share information from a meeting of the Forsaken with both Graendal and Semirhage. Season 4 is expected to introduce her more prominently, especially considering the setup for Perrin’s storyline in “Towers of Midnight,” where Graendal was the primary antagonist. The final episodes of the Two Rivers arc in “The Wheel of Time” have set the stage for Perrin’s narrative by placing him under Whitecloak custody, preparing us to follow his story as it unfolds in the later books.

In the novel, Perrin faced trial on charges of wrongdoing towards the Whitecloaks, while Graendal secretly planned to kill him within their base. This plot development occurs quite early in the story, but it aligns well with what happens in the books. If this scenario plays out, Perrin and Dain Bornhald might find some mutual understanding as they would need to set aside their disagreements due to Graendal’s machinations.
