Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey, the executives behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, have revealed they are creating a documentary focusing on The Vivienne, a beloved star from Drag Race U.K. Their aim is to highlight The Vivienne’s remarkable life, artistic prowess, wit, and compassion for all to appreciate. Titled “Dear Viv,” this film will be produced by World of Wonder in collaboration with The Vivienne’s family. It will delve into their journey towards Drag Race U.K. stardom within the British drag scene, featuring tributes from fans and fellow contestants Baga Chipz, Michael Marouli, and Danny Beard.
It is with sadness that I report the passing of James Lee Williams, better known as The Vivienne, in January. He was only 32 years old. Although a formal inquiry won’t take place until June, the authorities have stated that there were no indications of any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
In the inaugural season of “Drag Race U.K.,” The Vivienne emerged victorious, earning praise for her Snatch Game portrayal of Donald Trump. She proudly represented the U.K. in the special edition of “Drag Race All-Stars.” As a heartfelt tribute, Barbato and Bailey penned, “Although her time on Earth was tragically short, we honor her memory and share her legacy through Dear Viv.” This touching documentary will be available for viewing later this year on WOW Presents Plus.
