World Of Warcraft 2? Blizzard Says It There Are No Plans Currently, But That Could Change

As a long-time World of Warcraft (WoW) enthusiast with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension about the potential for a sequel to this legendary MMO.

As a devoted gamer, I can’t help but marvel at the timeless appeal of World of Warcraft. This legendary video game has been thriving for an impressive two decades now, consistently bringing in monthly subscription income. But here’s a thought that occasionally crosses my mind: What if Blizzard Entertainment decided to unveil a sequel instead of continuously updating and broadening the current game?

As a dedicated fan, I’m sharing this intriguing tidbit: Game director Ion Hazzikostas hinted to GamesRadar that Blizzard might entertain the idea of starting fresh with a new game down the line. However, the prospect of World of Warcraft 2 materializing in the near future or even ever is rather slim.

He mentioned that, theoretically, in the future, we might face the challenge of starting from scratch again for a sequel, but right now, we are focusing on and enjoying serving our large, thriving, and expanding player community.

Hazzikostas noted that one reason World of Warcraft has been incredibly successful is because it has constantly evolved its technology throughout the years.

He mentioned that we’re consistently ripping out old fundamental structures and installing newer ones that can accommodate our updated server design, improved graphics processing, and novel features for multiplayer interactions – aspects that the initial game didn’t foresee.

Currently, Blizzard’s top focus is on delivering the best service possible to their vast player base. They are working diligently to make adjustments and enhancements tailored for today’s audience.

Many popular live-action games like Overwatch, Destiny, and Counter-Strike have released sequels, while World of Warcraft is currently focusing on refining its existing formula.

At one time in the past, Blizzard endeavored to create another massively multiplayer online game through the Titan project. Unfortunately, this project was eventually scrapped, but elements from it found their way into Overwatch.

There is speculation among some fans whether Blizzard could potentially release World of Warcraft (WoW) on consoles, following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft. A Blizzard developer hinted at this possibility, stating that the team has indeed been discussing the idea. “It wouldn’t be entirely truthful to say we’re not considering it,” said WoW executive producer Holly Longdale. “Given our recent change to being part of Microsoft, it’s something worth exploring.

World of Warcraft’s tenth expansion titled “The War Within” debuted in August, and TopMob deemed it as one of the game’s finest additions to date. In its upcoming major update, “The War Within” will be unleashing its full ‘goblin mode.’
