It’s the start of a new weekend, and that means a new Buzzword puzzle in Cookie Jam! We’ve already solved “Edible waterfowl” and “A small unit of weight,” and now we have a new clue. If you’re having trouble with “A mollusk known for making pearls,” I can give you a hint.
Answer to “A mollusk known for making pearls” in Cookie Jam
There could be just one correct answer for this Cookie Jam hint:
- A mollusk known for making pearls – Oyster
Oysters are shellfish with two shells that are connected. They live in salty or slightly salty water, and often gather together to create reefs near the shore. They’re natural water filters, feeding by straining tiny plants and particles from the water – a single oyster can clean up to 50 gallons each day!
Pearls begin to form when something irritates an oyster, such as a small piece of sand, and gets inside its shell. As a defense, the oyster covers the irritant with layers of a shiny substance called nacre – the material that also makes up the shell. These layers gradually build up, creating a pearl.
