Wonder Woman Game Canceled as WB Shuts Down Studios

Fans of DC found themselves disappointed when they learned that Warner Bros. had called off the Wonder Woman video game project and closed down three of its studios.

Back in December 2021, during The Game Awards, WB Games unveiled their Wonder Woman project. It was Monolith Productions, known for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, who were tasked with developing it. However, specifics about the game remained a secret for quite some time.

A Bloomberg report published in early February 2025 revealed some insights about the project’s current state. According to the report, Monolith revived the Wonder Woman character and changed directors in 2024.

It was reported that WB Games had already invested approximately $100 million, which led fans to question if the game set in Themyscira would ever be released. Since then, their doubts have proven to be valid.

Wonder Woman game canceled as WB shutters studios

As reported by Bloomberg, WB Games has informed its employees about the shutdown of three of their in-house studios: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego.

Previously, Monolith had been in charge of the Middle-earth series and was overseeing the production of Wonder Woman. However, Player First stopped supporting Multiversus in February. In 2019, a team based in San Diego started their venture into creating mobile games.

There’s a lot of excitement among fans due to the recent news of canceling Wonder Woman. Since there aren’t many games under the DC brand, and those that exist often focus on Batman, fans are particularly disappointed about this decision.

Fans of Wonder Woman, also known as Diana Prince, voiced their disappointment on Twitter/X regarding the fact that despite being one of the most renowned female superheroes, she hasn’t yet had a video game dedicated to her character.

It’s a shame, even unjust, that despite Wonder Woman being the most renowned female superhero, she receives such treatment. This situation seems more like an injustice.
