Akira Montague, who received $1.75 million after TikToker Brenay Kennard caused the end of her marriage, says she and her children have been harassed as a result.
In 2024, TikTok creator Brenay Kennard, known as LifeOfBrenay with nearly 3 million followers, faced a lawsuit from Akira Montague. Montague claimed Kennard had an affair with her husband, Timothy, and publicly shared details about it online.
On November 10, 2025, a North Carolina judge awarded Montague $1.75 million in a lawsuit. North Carolina is unusual because it’s one of the few states where people can still sue for loss of affection or issues related to infidelity.
Akira recently discussed the ongoing case, explaining that her coworkers removed her belongings from her desk after news of a potential settlement became known.

She told ABC 11 in Durham, North Carolina, that her coworkers removed some of her belongings, assuming she wouldn’t be returning after receiving a significant award.
Montague has gone back to work and intends to use her winnings to purchase a home for her and her children. Unfortunately, they’ve been dealing with harassment related to the case.
It’s been a really difficult experience. She explained that she avoids taking her kids out in public because people constantly bother them, even now. This makes it impossible for her to enjoy time with her children, and it’s a constant struggle.
The woman strongly criticized Kennard for not seeming sorry for destroying her marriage. She recounted Kennard’s statement to the court, saying, ‘She simply admitted she was angry because she had taken my husband.’ The woman argued that Kennard lacked responsibility and showed no regret for the pain she caused her family.
Kennard has gone back to creating videos after the legal issue, but has disabled comments on TikTok.
Despite this, she still lets people comment on her Instagram posts, and the reactions have been varied – some people are happy to see her posting again.
