Woman finally gets reply to message in a bottle that she dropped 31 years ago

Thirty-one years later, a response came back to the message in a bottle that a girl had sent from the Scottish coast when she was twelve years old.

As a passionate fan, I shared with the BBC that although I can’t recall crafting the specific message myself, I vividly remember sending out the note, which requested the finder to respond with personal details like their name, interests, and home address, through a Moray Cup bottle.

42-year-old Beresford recounted to the site that her teacher’s spouse, who was a fisherman at the time, accidentally dropped the message in the ocean back in 1994. As she explained, the note was part of a school project centered around water.

Though we can’t trace the thrilling escapades the bottle underwent during those three decades, it ultimately found its way across the North Sea and ended up stranded on foreign shores, many miles distant.

Delayed response

By a fortunate twist of fate, upon returning to live at her childhood home, where her parents were still residing, Beresford found a postcard dated 2025 that had been sent to her by Pia Brodtmann from Norway.

As a gamer hailing from Germany, I’m currently stationed up in the chilly climes of northern Norway, lending a hand as a beach-cleaning volunteer. On this postcard you see, the workboat Nemo and our trusty sailboat Fonn are featured prominently – these vessels are my temporary abode.

Unbeknownst to them, it turned out they were yet to make their entrance into the world when Beresford penned her initial note-in-a-bottle message. “By the way, I’m 27 years old and I truly enjoy rock climbing and sailing!

In a contemporary turn of events, Beresford shared how she managed to connect with Brodtmann via social platforms, who subsequently shared an image of the ancient correspondence. “Pia and I have maintained our connection and are hoping to carry on this interaction,” she expressed.
