EA Sports sat down with Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon from the Williams F1 team, who were given a sneak peek at their player ratings for the upcoming F1 25 game. Before revealing these ratings, however, EA Sports inquired about the drivers’ own thoughts on what their scores might be.
In Formula 1’s upcoming season, Sainz anticipated the following ratings: 85 for Experience, 86 for Racecraft, 83 for Awareness, and 86 for Pace. At launch, his overall ratings were predicted to be 87 for Experience, 96 for Racecraft, 88 for Awareness, and 88 for Pace. Most of his predictions proved accurate, but he appeared modest regarding his rating. However, he eventually earned a 90 Rating, slightly surpassing his initial guess of 87.
Alexander Albon forecasted the following ratings: An Overall score of 82, 80 for Experience, 82 for Racecraft, 85 for Awareness, and 83 for Pace. His predictions weren’t too off base, as he is expected to have an Overall Rating (OVR) of 83, 81 for Experience, 82 for Racecraft, 78 for Awareness, and 85 for Pace.
Albon correctly anticipated his 82 Racecraft rating, attributing it mainly to the multiple accidents he experienced towards the end of the previous season. However, he also mentioned that not all the collisions were solely his fault.
A driver’s experience points tend to increase as they spend more years in Formula 1. Long-time racers like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso have the highest experience scores. Speed and a driver’s skill in achieving the fastest lap during a race are referred to as pace, with Max Verstappen currently leading this category with a rating of 96. Skill in making moves like overtaking and maintaining awareness to avoid penalties falls under Racecraft and Awareness, areas where Verstappen also excels.
Williams’ drivers appear to make excellent teammates or they’re a good choice for My Team or Driver Career. Plus, if you’re new to the game and want to familiarize yourself with its mechanics, these two drivers are great options as they can help navigate you from one point to another. However, keep in mind that their ratings change throughout the season based on their actual performance.
