Recently, the globally recognized Warcraft brand marked its 30th anniversary, leading to the unveiling and launch of remastered editions for both Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2. Although fans are still taken aback, some are already speculating if these revamped versions will make an appearance on platforms other than Battle.net, with Steam being a popular guess. Will Warcaft 1 and Warcaft 2 Remastered be Released on Steam?
It’s no shock that Warcraft 2 Remastered has been announced, given the persistent rumors about its development. However, a revamped version of the original Warcraft was more than fans might have expected. Blizzard has been generous with gifts to Warcraft brand enthusiasts recently, as they not only got remasters but also an update for Warcraft 3: Reforged. While this is something to be happy about, not everyone is completely content. The community is now questioning whether the initial two installments will appear on Steam or not.
The solution isn’t straightforward, and it’s quite unlikely that this event will transpire. Despite Blizzard launching Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 on Steam, one might contend that they did so merely to increase their player count. It’s important to mention that the studio’s other games are not accessible through Valve’s platform. For instance, Warcraft 3: Reforged is exclusive to Battle.net. Similarly, Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 Remastered can only be found on this platform for now. However, it’s possible that Blizzard could prepare a collection of these classic RTS games in a remastered form and offer them on other platforms in the future. At present, there isn’t much reason to get enthused about the release of these games on Steam, but we’ll see if this changes down the line.
