The real-time strategy (RTS) genre isn’t as mainstream as it used to be, but it’s far from extinct. Games such as Broken Arrow continue to draw in large numbers of players, even managing to attract over 31,000 on the first day of advanced access. Unfortunately, at this moment, it’s only available on PC, leaving console owners like those with Xbox Series X/S or PS5 out of luck.
Broken Arrow – Console (Xbox and PS5) Release Explained
Right now, you can find ‘Broken Arrow’ for PC purchase on Steam, and it’s not tagged as an early access title, which theoretically means the developers aren’t strictly required to finish the game. Instead, they could be working on adapting BA for other platforms. However, it’s important to note that this situation isn’t entirely straightforward.
- At this point, there is no information on potential console versions. Steel Balalaika didn’t announce any plans for the release of the game on other platforms. Additionally, looking at the portfolio of the publisher, Slitherine Ltd., it can be quickly noticed that most of their productions are available only on PC.
- Broken Arrow is a real-time strategy game. This genre is typically designed to play with mouse and keyboard. Preparing a good RTS port for consoles (with intuitive controller support) is a challenge even for the most experienced developers.
Instead of expecting the port to arrive soon, let’s stay optimistic about upcoming updates and pray that my skepticism is misplaced.
