Will Trent Finale: Will Ormewood Survive?

This third season of “Will Trent” has been a thrilling rollercoaster ride, filled with unexpected twists, heart-stopping surprises, and deeply moving plotlines that particularly resonated with Will (Ramon Rodriguez) and Angie (Erika Christensen). The narrative in Season 3 primarily revolved around their relationship dynamics, delivering intense drama. In addition to shedding light on the couple’s journey, “Will Trent” Season 3 also gave other characters a chance to take center stage.

In a temporary romantic subplot, Amanda (played by Sonja Sohn) demonstrates that attraction knows no age boundaries. The relationship between Faith (Iantha Richardson) and her son has introduced an unforeseen tension into the usually strong bond between Faith and Will. All the characters from the ‘Will Trent’ series, even the new ones, have been given intriguing storylines to explore during this extended season.

As the Season 3 finale of Will Trent approaches, I find myself concerned about Michael Ormewood, portrayed by Jake McLaughlin, and feel compelled to discuss this matter.

Warning Will Trent Season 3 Episode 1-17 Spoilers are ahead. Proceed with caution.

Ormewood’s Health Issues Have Made Me Concerned About His Fate

In Season 3 of “Will Trent,” Ormewood discovers he has a brain tumor, which becomes a recurring theme throughout several episodes. These episodes delve into the struggle of a veteran to get his insurance to cover the necessary surgery. Moreover, this predicament compels Ormewood to reassess his life and make arrangements for any potential outcome. Initially, I found this storyline less grave, considering that a real-life brain tumor is serious but I assumed it would be quickly resolved on TV.

Instead of merely employing it as a narrative tool, the writers of the Will Trent series delve into the real-life impact when someone receives such transformative news. This storyline is significantly emphasized throughout the series, providing an in-depth portrayal of the challenges faced by a character who served in the military. It sheds light on aspects that are often overlooked even in exceptional war films – the everyday hassles encountered by former military personnel.

It’s captivating to watch how they’re delving deep into the brain tumor storyline for Ormewood. But, as it continues, I can’t help but feel apprehensive about his prospects given how drawn-out this plot has become. It seems likely that the final episode of Will Trent Season 3 might leave us hanging with a suspenseful cliffhanger about whether he makes it through surgery.

Nico And Him Being In Quarantine Also Sets Alarms For His Future On Will Trent

For the upcoming season of “Will Trent,” there will be 18 episodes, marking an increase from Seasons 1 and 2. Specifically, it’s eight more than Season 2 and five more than Season 1. This extended season provides the series with additional opportunities to explore new ideas and craft intricate multi-episode narratives. The show has taken advantage of this freedom by weaving several mini storylines together. The current plot could culminate in a tragic ending.

In Episode 17 of “Will Trent” Season 3, titled “Why Hello, Sheriff,” Ormewood and Nico (played by Cora Lu Tran) find themselves trapped in a hospital due to the presence of toxic substances that have seeped in. Both characters may have come into contact with this potential virus.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’ve noticed that character Nico appears frequently in “Why Hello, Sheriff,” and surprisingly engages with characters they usually avoid, like Ormewood. The scriptwriters have a knack for using such storylines to foreshadow significant events, such as the deaths of these characters. However, it’s also possible that neither of them meets their demise. Yet, given my experience with TV shows, I find it more probable that one of these characters will be written off in the Season 3 finale.

In the series Will Trent, there hasn’t been much heart-wrenching television death yet. It seems like it’s time for one. Among the characters, Nico appears to be a likely candidate since he has recurred throughout the series, while Ormewood has been a primary character or lead in most episodes of Will Trent. However, killing Nico might not create as strong an impact because viewers might not anticipate his death. The quarantine storyline could surprise us by having Ormewood pass away instead, which would be unexpected since we usually see him survive through surgeries.

I’m unsure about the direction of the hospital virus plotline involving Will Trent, but it appears to be leading towards potentially unfavorable situations for Nico and Ormewood.

Ormewood Has Become Such An Endearing Part Of The Show That It Would Be A Shame To Lose Him

Ormewood underwent a significant transformation throughout the series, starting off as a challenging character in Season 1, where his rough edges and infidelity made him appear as a typical tough cop with a dislike for Will. However, as the story progressed in Season 2, he began to be portrayed more sympathetically as a flawed but devoted father figure. By Season 3, Ormewood had fully blossomed into a well-rounded, likable character and even proved himself to be the show’s top comedian.

It’s tough not to grow fond of Ormewood. Consequently, it would be heartbreaking if the show were to eliminate his character, given how they’ve made him such an endearing aspect of this ABC series.

However, He Isn’t As Main As Others, So They Could Kill Him Off Will Trent

In this story, Angie, Will, and Faith are the primary characters, while Amanda and Ormewood play significant roles, though not as central. However, the death of Amanda would significantly impact the series. Given that one of the main five might meet their end, I find myself apprehensive about Ormewood’s safety leading up to the finale, as he appears to be the least indispensable character among them.

Previously mentioned, no significant character from the series has died so far. While major character deaths are not mandatory for every show, they often symbolize a milestone in storytelling. Hence, I’m not optimistic about Ormewood surviving Season 3 and subsequent seasons.

There Is Still A Lot of Story Left For Him, So I Hope He Doesn’t Leave The Show Any Time Soon

In my perspective, it appears that much of Season 3 hinted at a possible romantic relationship between Faith and Ormewood. However, I might be misinterpreting things since the last episodes of Season 3 didn’t feature significant interaction between them. The series seems to have been subtly preparing their relationship for a major role in the upcoming season. There remains hope that they may develop romantic feelings towards each other by the end of Will Trent Season 3, and possibly, Season 4 could delve deeper into this burgeoning romance.

Ormewood has turned out to be an excellent TV dad, and I genuinely appreciate his portrayal in this role. His kids have become some of the most captivating guest stars on Will Trent’s show. I hope they continue to be a part of the series for a while longer. Moreover, Ormewood’s character could offer valuable insights for Will and Angie as they navigate their own unique parenting challenges.

Regardless of their turbulent history, Ormewood and Angie have grown into a bond akin to family. It’s crucial that they continue to stand by each other. The dynamic between Will and Ormewood, once strained, has now turned entertaining. We’re eager to witness the progression of their friendship. As for Will Trent’s intentions towards Ormewood, I can only speculate, but I fervently hope that their story doesn’t conclude during the Season 3 finale.

Will Trent airs Tuesdays on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
