At the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good, Ariana Grande was briefly grabbed by an enthusiastic fan who managed to get past security. Cynthia Erivo quickly intervened, pushing the fan away before security guards took him down. A video of the incident shows Erivo, along with Grande’s co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, and director Jon M. Chu, comforting Grande afterward, as reported by Variety.
According to Variety, the person who jumped on stage during Ariana Grande’s concert is Johnson Wen, also known as “Pyama Man” on Instagram. Wen, who describes himself as a “troll” online, is an Australian influencer with a history of similar behavior. He previously disrupted concerts by Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers in 2024. He posted a video of the incident with Grande and was briefly arrested, but later released.
Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo Lead Global Tour for ‘Wicked: For Good’
The highly anticipated musical Wicked: For Good is launching with a world tour, but the premiere hasn’t been without issues. Ariana Grande unfortunately had to miss the first event in Brazil on November 4, 2025, due to travel problems, and she apologized to her fans. This comes at a difficult time, especially considering reports that Grande is eager to connect with fans at these events, yet is facing negative treatment from someone seemingly seeking attention. Security measures will be increased for future premieres, starting with the event in New York City. Following the missed Brazil appearance, Grande shared a message on Instagram, as reported by Variety:
I’m truly devastated that I can’t be with you all. We did everything we possibly could to try and make it work, and I’m deeply sorry for any disappointment. Please send all your love and support to my amazing castmates, and I hope you have a wonderful celebration. I’m so incredibly sorry again.
Let’s hope the rest of the publicity for Wicked: For Good goes more smoothly, especially because the movie is expected to be huge. It’s already breaking records for pre-ticket sales on Fandango, and could open with between $115 and $120 million—possibly even more. It might even become the biggest movie opening of 2025, surpassing A Minecraft Movie. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are both early favorites to be nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, at the 98th Academy Awards, and Wicked: For Good is also being discussed as a potential Best Picture nominee.
