As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen plenty of twists and turns in the gaming world. The recent news about Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 mode has left me scratching my head more than once. The addition of new Killers like The Deathslinger, Spirit, and Blight is a breath of fresh air, but the unavailability of certain outfits, such as War Hammer Titan for The Spirit and William Birkin for The Blight, has left many of us in the dark.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled about Dead by Daylight’s latest update to the 2v8 format, which brings fresh Killers to the mix – The Deathslinger, Spirit, and Blight! With this enlarged roster comes an expanded array of abilities and customization options for players. However, some fellow enthusiasts have pointed out that not every outfit is accessible within the current 2v8 version.
It appears that the War Hammer Titan from Attack on Titan and William Birkin from Resident Evil cannot be used – indicating that the creators or license holders of these franchises might not allow their characters to be featured in a 2v8 game mode. This could be due to a number of reasons, one being their preference for keeping their licensed characters exclusive to their own media.
Regrettably, this might imply that characters like Albert Wesker or The Nemesis may not feature in Resident Evil 2 remake’s 2v8 (Versus mode with two players).
In the upcoming update 2v8, some licensed characters won’t be available to use. For instance, War Hammer Titan can’t be used with The Spirit, and William Birmin is off-limits for The Blight. This restriction might also apply to Armored Titan and Hunk in relation to The Oni and The Legion respectively, indicating which licenses have declined cooperation.

If it turns out that the owners of the Attack on Titan and Resident Evil licenses haven’t given permission for their characters in 2v8, this could mean that these costumes won’t be available even in future versions of the mode. With The Oni and The Legion set to join the roster, players may not have the option to use the Armored Titan skin for The Oni or the HUNK skin for The Legion.
If you’re eager to take on 2v8 as Wesker, Nemesis, or a legendary Resident Evil character, don’t give up just yet. Behaviour Interactive hasn’t definitively ruled out these characters for future versions of 2v8, implying that any licensing problems could be resolved. At the moment, it seems unlikely they’ll join the 2v8 lineup anytime soon, but there’s always a chance things might change in the future.
