The popular drama series One Chicago isn’t currently releasing new episodes across its three shows, due to changes in NBC’s programming schedule. As the 2025-2026 television season nears its end, most scripted shows are wrapping up current storylines or preparing for their season finales. While ABC has already aired the final episode of High Potential‘s second season, other networks are still several weeks away from finishing their seasons.
As a big fan of the Chicago shows – Fire, PD, and Med – I’ve been hearing that NBC is starting to wrap up some current storylines while subtly setting up things that won’t come to fruition until the 2026-2027 season. The good news is all three shows are already renewed, giving the writers plenty of time to create satisfying season finales. But, be warned, we’re in for a bit of a wait! They’re taking a mid-season break before continuing the stories, so we’ll have to be patient.
The One Chicago Franchise Is Taking Its Final Break Of The TV Cycle
New episodes of Chicago Fire (season 14), Chicago PD (season 13), and Chicago Med (season 11) won’t be on tonight, April 15, 2026. NBC is spacing out the episodes to allow the season finales to air in mid-May, during a key week for TV ratings—this period helps set advertising costs for the rest of the year. This is the last break these Chicago shows will take before the current TV season ends.
Rather than showing new episodes, NBC will be re-airing older episodes of its Chicago dramas. Interestingly, they’ve chosen episodes all from the third week of the current season. The night starts with Chicago Med season 11’s “Horseshoes and Hand Grenades” at 8 PM Eastern, then Chicago Fire season 14’s “In The Blood” at 9 PM Eastern, and finishes with Chicago PD season 13’s “Canaryville” at 10 PM Eastern.
When Will New Episodes Of Chicago Fire, PD, & Med Release?
Great news for One Chicago fans – the show will only be off the air for a week! All three series – Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med – will return with new episodes next week, on April 22, 2026. NBC has revealed details about the upcoming episodes, including the title and a brief description. The first episode of Chicago Med’s eleventh season, titled “Things Left Unsaid,” will feature the medical team dealing with the aftermath of a devastating car accident and fighting to save a family.
In the next installment of the Chicago dramas, Ripley will challenge Lenox about her risky choices. “Chicago Fire” season 14, episode 18, titled “Instinct,” will focus on Violet Mikami and Lyla Novak as they navigate a difficult situation. The evening concludes with “Chicago PD” season 13, episode 18, “The Wicked River,” where Hank Voight and his team investigate a deadly house party that reveals a disturbing family secret. Additionally, Atwater will confront a significant personal challenge.
