In conversations about collaborating with Sony on this upcoming trilogy, Boyle shared with The Hollywood Reporter: “Our goal was to film it in a secluded region of England known as Northumbria, but that would prove costly.

We sought a collaborator with shared comprehension, ready to fund the sequel that had already been scripted. Given practical and monetary considerations, it made no sense not to produce them one after another.

Boyle explained, “I couldn’t oversee the second film as I was busy preparing for the release of the first. That role fell to Nia DaCosta, who has done an excellent job with it.
