Whoopi Goldberg Refuses to Say Trump’s Name on ‘The View’ After He’s Reelected President; Sunny Hostin Is ‘Profoundly Disturbed’ by Trump’s Win

As a seasoned movie buff who’s seen more political dramas than I can count, I must say that the 2024 presidential election has been quite the rollercoaster ride – a real-life suspense thriller unfolding right before our eyes!

On the November 6th edition of “The View” on ABC, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Alyssa Farah Griffin (who is an outspoken Republican and previously worked as an aide to Donald Trump) gathered to share their reactions to Donald Trump’s win over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Interestingly, all six women had voted for Harris in this hypothetical scenario.

Goldberg didn’t mention him directly but inquired from her colleagues, “What transpired last night?” Later on, she disclosed, “He is the president. Regardless, I won’t be saying his name. That’s something that remains constant.

Hostin expressed deep concern over the election results. She noted that if you read The New York Times this morning, the headline reads ‘America Chooses Perilously.’ In 2016, we weren’t sure what to expect from a Trump administration. Now, we know. We understand that he will have nearly unrestricted power. Her primary concern is not for her own well-being or status, but for the working class. She worries about her retired teacher mother, about our elderly and their social security and medicare benefits, and about her children’s future, particularly her daughter who has fewer rights than she did.

She expressed her optimism, stating, ‘I believed a multiracial woman, married to a Jewish man, could become the nation’s president.’ She clarified that this wasn’t about political platforms; instead, it was a reflection of the cultural bitterness prevalent in our country.

Despite being a vocal critic of Trump for quite some time, Behar found solace in the fact that “the democratic process functioned” following the 2024 presidential election.

In our democratic nation, the voice of the people has been heard, and their choice has prevailed. Although I strongly oppose the decision made by the American populace, I remain deeply optimistic about our democratic system. It’s crucial that we cherish, appreciate, and uphold this institution. We should stand ready to defend it, as I believe we will need to do so in the future, just as we did during the Nixon era. Above all else, let us strive to preserve our country.

Navarro declared, “I have no regrets. I gave my all in an attempt to elect the country’s first female president of Black and Asian descent. Once more, history eluded us. I gave my utmost efforts to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president. However, today, unlike Donald Trump and his supporters, I concede that he has won. I wish for the best for our nation. I pledge to our LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, elderly, young girls, and women: we will not cease our struggle. We may mourn today, but tomorrow we rise and carry on.

Haines expressed similar feelings, saying to the audience: “Let’s keep on battling for those dear to us. I remain hopeful because I stand alongside individuals who share my views.

On Election Day, as I sat down for “The View,” I proudly announced my vote for Vice President Harris – a historic moment marking the first time in my life I’ve supported a Democratic candidate for president. Reflecting on Trump’s victory the following day, I couldn’t help but remind everyone about our often overlooked rural communities, whose voices and experiences deserve equal attention.

The working class seems neglected. They believe the powerful and the elite are more concerned with their influence than them. Griffin pointed out about Trump, ‘They supported him, despite his words we might not have liked.’ He’s suggesting that we need to reduce the tension, stop labeling, and condemning. If they choose to act, they can – it’s a time for listening to the voters.

Meghan McCain, a former host of “The View”, criticized ABC before the show aired, claiming that every seat was filled with voters for Vice President Harris, and she felt it was unfair that there wasn’t a single conservative woman on the panel who voted for Trump or could express why he still has support among Americans. This is because she believes ABC News is acting unprofessionally by not providing such a perspective.

Hosts on “The View” were vocal critics of Trump during the election period, to the point where Trump referred to them as “really dumb people” at a campaign rally in Reading, Pennsylvania last month. However, he did recall that he had previously hired Goldberg for a comedy event at one of his casinos. Yet, Trump criticized her performance as being “excessively dirty” and “disgusting.
