As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that IO Interactive, known for their Hitman series, has officially unveiled 007 First Light – their latest third-person adventure starring everyone’s favorite secret agent, James Bond. During Sony’s State of Play event, we caught a glimpse of the game’s younger rendition of our beloved British super-spy, but the question on everyone’s lips: Who’s stepping into Bond’s tuxedo this time?
There’s still some uncertainty about it, but many fans are convinced they’ve figured it out: They believe Irish actor Patrick Gibson might be taking on the role after the trailer was released. Known for his performances in The Tudors, Shadow and Bone, and Tolkien, Gibson also played a young Dexter Morgan on the prequel series Original Sin most recently. Given his appearance, it’s not hard to see why people think he fits the bill. However, we’ll have to wait and see as anything could happen.
In this upcoming James Bond movie, the role is entirely portrayed by Patrick Gibson, a talented Irish actor best recognized for his performance as Dexter in “Dexter: Original Sin.” I have no doubt that he’ll deliver an outstanding performance as Bond.

At this point, IO Interactive hasn’t revealed who takes on the role of Bond in First Light. What has been confirmed is that Lennie James from The Walking Dead portrays Bond’s mentor, John Greenway. This character is a new addition, but some familiar faces like M, Q, and Moneypenny will also appear in First Light.
Just as with James Bond himself, the actors for these roles haven’t been officially announced yet. The identity of the enigmatic character Isola, along with the entire group of new antagonists, remains a mystery at this point.
Title “First Light” narrates the tale of how James Bond transitioned into Agent 007, commencing with Bond at the age of 26 as a recruit from the Royal Navy. Similar to the films, “First Light” will weave an adventure-filled narrative centered around thrilling action and covert operations.
First Light launches in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
