Who is GunRun? From Twitch founding team to destroying VShojo

On July 24, when VShojo, the VTuber agency, formally closed its doors, Twitch took away the worldwide emote called GunRun.

Justin ‘GunRun’ Ignacio initially played a pivotal role in establishing the live streaming platform Twitch. However, by 2020, he had moved on to establish VShojo, one of the largest VTuber (Virtual YouTuber) agencies within the industry. This company swiftly welcomed content creators who would later gain significant recognition on Twitch, such as Ironmouse, Silvervale, and Veibae.

However, on Monday, July 21, Ironmouse disclosed in a YouTube video that she had departed from the organization. She asserted that they failed to fulfill a pledged $500,000 donation to the Immune Deficiency Foundation, a charity she regularly fundraises for annually.

Her video triggered a large-scale departure from the agency, and ex-members disclosed surprising events in which they claim they were not fairly compensated by VShojo.

The release of her video resulted in a significant number of employees leaving the agency, while former members divulged shocking instances where they allege they were underpaid by VShojo.

On Thursday, July 24th, without any prior announcement or explanation, Twitch took down GunRun’s emote from their platform, rendering it inaccessible for users globally.

Who is Justin ‘GunRun’ Ignacio?

In 2020, GunRun initiated VShojo, becoming the initial United States-based agency specializing in VTubers. Positioning itself as a “talent-centric” enterprise, it aimed to equip content creators with all the necessary resources to operate as VTubers on their platform.

Alongside VTubing, GunRun made himself known in several other industries as well.

He gained significant recognition as a caster for StarCraft II and Command & Conquer tournaments, and along the way, established the streaming platform GLHF.tv.

Additionally, he played a significant role in boosting real-life (IRL) streaming on Twitch by inventing the UnlimitedIRL pack. This innovation has empowered content creators such as JakeNBakeLive, T-Pain, and many others with the freedom to stream live from anywhere around the globe.
