Who is “Baby Jinx”? New Arcane Season 2 character explained

As a seasoned observer of the world of animated series, I must say that the character of Isha in Arcane Season 2 has truly captured my heart. This young girl, who seems to be no older than 10 or 11, has already shown more courage and resilience than some adults I know!

It’s possible you caught a glimpse of “Baby Jinx” for the first time in Arcane Season 2. However, you might be wondering about this fresh character: Who is she and does she appear in the League of Legends video games?

It’s quite reasonable to wonder about this, since not every Arcane character is a League of Legends champion. This is part of what makes the Netflix series so popular.

Riot Games’ Christian Linke and Alex Yee have skillfully blended elements from the original content, crafting a narrative that resonates with long-time fans as well as those just starting out.

On November 9th, the first part of Arcane Season 2 will debut on our favorite streaming platform. Here’s some information we have gathered about the upcoming character, Isha, who is also known as “Baby Jinx”. Please be aware that the following details might contain spoilers!

Who is Isha?

Isha is a young orphan who resides in the undercity of Zaun. Following her rescue by the renowned Zaunite, Jinx, Isha develops a deep admiration for her savior, viewing her as both an idol and mentor. This affectionate moniker, “Baby Jinx,” comes about due to their close bond.

In Arcane Season 2 Episode 2, titled ‘Watch it all Burn’, we’re initially acquainted with the character Isha. Her past remains a mystery, particularly since she doesn’t speak.

It’s clear that she’s fearless and valiant, much like young Jinx. In her escape from Cross and his associates, she leaps to bridge the spaces in a damaged safe, but instead lands squarely in Jinx’s arms.

Following Jinx’s elimination of the Chem-barons, Isha observes ‘Wanted’ posters featuring Jinx’s likeness everywhere. “Indeed, that’s me,” Jinx acknowledges. “In case you need help to curse a relative, a clan, or a community, my services are at your disposal.

Not only is Jinx known as one of the most perilous felons beneath the city, but she also brandishes a firearm menacingly at children. Remarkably, this doesn’t deter her; instead, it seems to intrigue her even more.

In the third episode of Arcane Season 2, Isha chases after Jinx when she departs, consistently following her throughout subsequent scenes. Remarkably, she steps in front of both Jinx and Vi in a daring move, potentially jeopardizing her own life to protect her mentor.

It seems that as the upcoming episodes unfold, Jinx and Isha appear to be developing a stronger bond.

In the second season’s score for Arcane, a music video appeared alongside Eason Chan’s ‘Isha’s Song’, which showcases snippets of the duo sprinting around town.

In a different photo, Isha, sporting her new blue-hued tresses, embraces Jinx. The scene alternates with recollections of Powder, highlighting similarities in their personalities.

In the sneak peek for Season 2 Part 2, there’s a hint that the bond between the characters deepens. One scene features Jinx gazing at themselves in a mirror, with a charming child’s sketch of Isha and Jinx stuck to its side.

Is she in the games?

Indeed, I’m afraid there isn’t a character named Isha within League of Legends. Given the circumstances, it seems plausible that she might have been specifically designed for Arcane Season 2.

There are, of course, a number of theories that Isha could actually be a different character from the games, one of them suggesting she might be Teemo – the yordle leader of the Bandle Scouts.

On Reddit, someone posted, “The cap, the hairdo, the binoculars and spying on others, the glasses. I might be imagining things, but if this has no connection to Teemo, it still seems like his attire, right? And yordles are capable of shape-shifting as well.

Another put forward a far out theory: that Isha is Janna, the spirit god who gets a mention in Season 2 Episode 3. In Arcane, Jinx reminisces about how Vander would tell her and Vi stories about Janna saving Zaunites struggling to breathe.

One viewer pondered, ‘Could Isha be the same as Janna?’ Isha signifies ‘goddess’ and ‘the one who protects’. In our story, Janna safeguards Zaun; Isha shielded Jinx.

Isha descended unexpectedly into Jinx’s world, coinciding with a period when folks were pleading to Janna for heavenly aid. The real story lies elsewhere!

Absolutely, at this point, everything is still guesswork. It’s most likely that the character Isha was created specifically for Arcane, but rest assured, we’ll let you know if anything different comes up.

Why Isha is important to Arcane Season 2

From a fundamental standpoint, in the heart of the story, I intervened, preventing Vi from ending Jinx’s life. The second season of Arcane would have taken a dramatically different shape without our central character gracing its pages. However, she might just hold the key to Jinx’s journey towards redemption.

Isha’s behavior unintentionally creates a rift between Vi and Caitlyn. In the ensuing altercation, Caitlyn contemplates firing at Isha, but Vi intervenes, reminding her that Isha is merely a child.

Following a heated disagreement that caused them to part ways, Caitlyn’s animosity towards the undercity intensified even more. Not long afterwards, she consented to assist Piltover in their conflict against Zaun.

As a gamer, I can’t help but notice that there’s more to Isha than meets the eye. It’s uncanny how much she reminds me of Powder, Jinx’s previous form. Both of them have been through unimaginable traumas at such tender ages. It’s a chilling echo of the past, isn’t it?

Through assuming the position of an elder sibling or guide, Jinx could potentially discover a means to rekindle her pure nature and eventually, over time, tread a path of kindness amidst the chaos and turbulence in Zaun, softening her aggressive tendencies.

Jinx isn’t old enough to be a mom

Although we’ve affectionately referred to her as “Baby Jinx,” it’s more like she’s viewed as a younger sibling rather than an adopted child. This is because, in the second season of Arcane, Jinx appears to be roughly 17-19 years old.

This figure represents an approximation derived from author Amanda Overton’s reply to a 2021 tweet inquiring about the characters’ ages.

In the initial scene, Caitlyn and Vi appear to be around the same age, with a difference of roughly a year or so. They’re approximately 14-16 years old. Powder, on the other hand, seems to be about 11-12 years old. The time gap between episodes is estimated to be around 6-7 years. However, keep in mind that time might not follow a linear pattern in Runeterra, so these are just approximations and open to various interpretations.

In the opening scene, Caitlyn and Vi might be close in age, perhaps only a year difference between them. They’re roughly around 14 to 16 years old.

In the world of Runeterra, it’s roughly around 11 to 12 for the current powder level. We estimate that about 6 to 7 years may have passed between each episode, but keep in mind that time can be fluid in Runeterra, and these timelines are somewhat open to individual interpretation.

As Season 2 continues directly from where Season 1 ended, it’s safe to infer that the character Jinx is likely around her late teenage years and moving into her early twenties.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilling at the news that Arcane Season 2 Part 1 is currently streaming on Netflix, with Part 2 set to drop on November 16! If you’ve already dived into the first three episodes, here’s a breakdown of the finale. Moreover, there’s intriguing information about why Season 2 marks the end and plans for a cinematic universe akin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, centered around League of Legends (LoL).
